If one is editing a file and that file is deleted from another application or the system (like when viewing temp files), after the warning message "The current file has been deleted. Save now? Yes/No", all attempts to answer No goes to an infinite loop. Either you save the deleted file again and then exit (what may not be desired) or you kill the Notepad3 instance from say Task Manager. Notepad3 does not accept the NO answer to not save the file (discard it) and leave.
Please try the latest beta version (see issue #1129).
Workflow: Press No on "The current file has been deleted. Save now? Yes/No" - then close NP3 or open new/empty document. The discarded document (file system) is still in memory (marked changed/unsaved now) and so consequently a "Save changes to: ..." requester pops up to avoid unintentionally data loss. Pressing No here will discard the document in memory and opens the new document or closes NP3, depending on your chosen workflow. Your former document is lost now (or maybe found the recycle bin).
Hello @yuhler ,
Feel free to test the "BETA/RC PortableApps" version "Notepad3Portable_5.21.205.1_beta.paf" or newer, see below or issue #1129.
"Notepad3Portable BETA/RC PortableApps" version can be used with or without ".7z" extension.
To update your "Notepad3 Setup" version with the latest features/fixes from the "BETA/RC" version, see issue #1105.
Also, feel free to test the "BETA/RC Setup" version "Notepad3_5.21.205.1_beta_Setup" or newer, see below or issue #1129.
Comments and suggestions are welcome... 馃槂
Thanks both for the tip. Got the BETA version and it works just fine. No looping. I forgot to mention that I had the "Monitoring log" feature active and that may be the reason you could not reproduce the problem.
@hpwamr : Please add above issue (Monitoring Log: file vanishes) as test case into your quality check workflow.
Hello @yuhler ,
