Notepad3: Feature request: implement tail function to live watch files

Start Notepad3.exe with options:

• "/l - Auto-reload modified files" and
• "/g -1 - (Jump to end of file)"
• "file name for live watch"
  e.g.: > Notepad3 /g -1 /l file_name.log

Watch update times can be configured:

• [Settings2] FileCheckInverval=2000 [ms]
• [Settings2] AutoReloadTimeout=2000 [ms]

Thanks, is there no button in the GUI where i can enable/disable it for a file? (like in notepad ++)

No toolbar button, but you can use the Menu -> Settings -> File Change Notification ... : Auto-reload (unmodified) or Alt+F5 and press Ctrl+End to watch end of file...

@skest3qc : So your constructive suggestion is to spend a toolbar button for a less used feature, which can be activated easily by accelerator keystrokes or does the "thumbs down emoji" mean "feature is not working" ?

1.st suggestion was to start with parameters which is much work to open a cmd and provide the file path to use the feature.
2.nd suggestion was to always press alt+f5 and ctrl+end which is the same when you are live watching a file

It seems you are not wanting to make a button which activates live watching for the opened file, because "works as designed" and maybe you are not addind feature requests.

@rizonesoft : if you find some time, please provide an icon (@skest3qc : any suggestion?) for "Live File Tail Observation".

• it makes sense to switch to read-only mode if this feature is activated
• maybe scrolling should be disabled too, cause view will be automatically jump to file end on changes.

Does this make sense?
