Nodejs.dev: Edge Case: Open nav menu doesn't scroll to current topic, after selecting the current topic

Created on 8 Apr 2019  路  3Comments  路  Source: nodejs/nodejs.dev

Description

Open nav menu doesn't scroll to current topic, after selecting the current topic.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open nav menu, scroll down and pick a topic
  2. Re-open nav menu, and observe the topics scrolling to the current topic from step 1.
  3. Select the same current topic again.
  4. Re-open nav menu, and topics do not scroll to the current topic.

Expected result

When re-selecting the same current topic, the re-open nav menu would either scroll to the same current topic, or in a better UX (previously discussed in other issues or PRs) that the re-reopen menu would pre-determine the previously selected topic, and set the position in nav menu accordly before re-opening.

Actual result

Re-selecting the same current topic does not function when re-opening nav menu.

Environment

  • OS Version: all
  • Browser Version: all

I still feel that it would be better UX if we remove the animation and just sync the position of the side nav both for mobile and desktop. :]

Hi @BeniCheni, nice find! I'm trying to understand what you mean by the better UX approach. Do you mean you for clicking on the same menu item, there should be no scroll animation with the position staying the same?
