Nocode: my house is on fire because of nocode

Created on 22 Feb 2018  路  10Comments  路  Source: kelseyhightower/nocode

I understand how invulnerable nocode is. But I think in spiritual way, nocode is still at risk.
After I fork nocode to my computer my cat jump to the stove and it turn the stove on and now everything is on fire, my house is on fire, my laptop is on fire.

Steps to reproduce the issue

  1. fork nocode to your computer
  2. walk outside and watch as everything goes on fire

What's the expected result?

Everything is not on fire

What's the actual result?

Everything is on fire

Sorry, but your report is too vague for us to take action on. What exactly do you mean by everything goes on fire? Is it reproducible? Have you installed the latest version? etc etc. Please check with e.g. https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/QA/Bug_writing_guidelines (As a meta note, I couldn't find an official GitHub bug report guideline... What a mess...)

I have set up a branch for you:

Please check it out and run the test script I provided there by issuing:

Note: this may repeatedly set your house or any in your neighbourhood on fire, so make sure to have it checked on a remotely available machine.

And also make sure to make a backup of the world before testing.

Post back the results of the script to here. Thanks.

Hardware requirements are difficult to match. I'd be glad to try to reproduce if I had a cat and a spare house with a stove.

Issue may be caused by a Samsung phone battery.

Looks like the firewall is disabled on your computer. Not related to nocode.

what is the version of stove installed in your system. this issue was fixed in previous release

Replace cat with Aibo running nocode.

What version of cat are you running? I will try to reproduce it with my dog.

Hi all, I'll try to give you accurate information.

  • Cat version: around 5.x.x. It just updated two days before the incident, maybe some bad code in the release branch as my cat doesn't like doing tests. Nowhere to be found now, you should check your house to see if there's a random cat (possibly bundled with a 'cardboard-box' and 'i-dont-care-about-human' module) in your house.
  • Firewall: I tried throwing fire extinguisher in the flame, there was firewall. I'm not sure if it is the same firewall or not.
  • House & Stove: Sorry, I didn't install git in the house, so nothing was in control.

Thank you for all the support.
