Nicehashminer: "Start mining when idle" is not working

Created on 15 Nov 2017  路  14Comments  路  Source: nicehash/NiceHashMiner

I would like to report a problem in both NiceHash Miner 2.0.1.4, NiceHash Miner Legacy 1.8.1.5 and even the pre-release 1.8.2.0. The "Start mining when idle" is not working for these versions, the mining does not stop even if I use the computer. The only NiceHash miner that the "Start mining when idle" worked is version 2.0.1.1.

The "Start mining when idle" has never worked for all other new version after 2.0.1.1.

Hello all,

I found the solution to this problem and it consists of two things:

  • Disable autostart, cause after it autostarts, it doesn't automatically stop anymore when not idle
  • Never click manually on the start button after you open Nicehash!

Just start Nicehash without clicking on the start button. When you're idle for 1 minute it automatically starts en stops as intended.

I will see if I can reproduce the issue

Same issue for me with 1.8.1.5. Using latest Windows 10 x64 Fall Update (1709). I tried unchecking autostart and hide mining windows but this didn't work.

I also have Windows 10 x 64 but the problem is a little different the miner works after the "Start mining when idle" function is activated, less than a second completes the mining

@TomJanssen85 your comment made me think this might be a change with how idle is reported in newer Windows versions. I'll see what I can find

Thanks guys for the input, I will try out Windows 7 here and see if "Start mining when idle" will work. I will let you know my findings.

Hi TomJanssen85, thank you for sharing your findings. Let me try that later and will let you know the result. I will also test this on multiple instances of NiceHash Miner Legacy.

TomJanssen85: Disabling "Autostart mining" did do the trick.

Finally i can walk away from my computer without needing to start the miner again :)

I'm having still having this issue with the settings suggested. I use corsair peripherals and run CUE. Also, my computer is unable to detect when I've been away for a while and automatically lock itself despite its settings to do so in the power management/sleep settings in windows. What should I do to track down this issue? I think it may be with something else other than nicehash that's causing windows not to report idling at all.

As per #191 I will be looking into adding alternate methods of checking for system idle

Dear friends, i still have this issue.

Could you, please, help me?

Can confirm, this still happens. But the previous fixes do not work. I cant prevent it starting even if my mouse moves. Pressing "stop mining" does nothing as it starts again right away. It was suggested to start the app and then never click "start mining", but that does not work (anymore?). I am using 2.0.2.2 and this was working in 2.0.2.1. I am running windows 8.

Thanks TomJanssen85 that worked for me!

Still an issue.
