I think it would be nice if you add a feature which enables the user to keep player buttons and video information active (display), as long as the screen is still being pressed.
This is especially useful when a video has a long title. Because it's long, reading the whole title takes more time than available information is allowed to be active (display fade out).
I'm talking about that UI thingy, which is displayed whenever you touch the player to see title, playlist, etc.
It may get fade out, before one can read the whole video title.
This is a feature available in any other video service I have ever seen: including YouTube app.
Maybe this is not even an enhancement, but rather a bug fix.
About tapping the screen.
It's about pressing it once and holding indefinitely.
If someone understood me and knows what is this "UI thingy" called, would you mind replying to me?
I'm talking about the macro component which displays info and buttons, when tapping/mouseover video players.
There's gotta be a name to this, which any dev would recognize it...
I think "player controls" is what you are looking for ;-)
This is definitely something that should be done

your right... I can't remember how many times this thing bothered me.
if I want to start helping with coding.. is it easy and what languages do I need to learn for newPipe specifically.

Java, Kotlin & HTML.
Java, Kotlin & HTML.
HTML is definitely not needed (there is no web developement inside the app) and only a few files are Kotlin so just learning Java gives a good basis to understand the code
I don't know why I didn't think to open an issue for this before. Instead, if I needed to read a long title, I would rapidly tap the expandable arrow like an idiot.

me too lmao
Also,
It should probably categorised under very much needed accessibility feature.
B.t.w, when accessibility-features are turned ON, in the device's settings,
the official YouTube application will keep both the controls, the title, visible,
until the user will click a little (additional) 'X' button to hide them.
I think we at NewPipe should follow that guideline too.
