Metamask-extension: How do I change my MetaMask password?

Hi,

I want to change my password on MetaMask.

I'm assuming it's impossible to change your seed phrase, but can you change the MetaMask password? Originally I used 12 characters but would now prefer at least 20 characters.

I looked through the FAQ and Search Engines in general before posting my question.

Click "forgot my password", and restore from seed, you'll be asked for a new password.

@danfinlay Maybe it's not bad to mention that when you reset your password you lose all your wallet on your metamask account !!!! (that was the case, at least for me)

So be sure that your wallet is safe on a Paper!

Yes, you will lose wallets you've manually added. Caution with restoring form seed.

Is there a way to make it so the accounts you import with a private key are not "loose"? I had a couple accounts all associated with one metamask sign in, and when I migrated over to a new computer I had to manually import those accounts, which are now labeled "loose". Apparently any account that was created after the seed phrase was generated is "loose"; is there any way to bind those?

This is not the right place for questions about imported accounts, this is an old closed issue. Please don't clutter our history!

(The loose label means it is imported. We will eventually display this differently, but there is no way to add an imported account to your seed phrase. The Loose label means that account is not backed up with your seed phrase).
