Metabase: Visualize a map using zip codes

Many ordering systems store Zip codes when a customer places an order (ours is no different). It'd be very neat to be able to map all of these zip codes for the US (and maybe beyond) by either estimating a lat/long position to show pins on a map or a heat map.

We store a zip code for each of our customers purchases and would love to see this info on a map. We have "stores" all over the globe and this data is very valuable to us. A bunch of 5 digit numbers mean little in table form when compared with a map representation.

Some other things that might make this neat:

• Aggregate functions on a map - being able to see the number (sum, count, etc) of purchases or actions from a particular zip code
  
  
  
  • Use Case: a coverable zone indicating 12 purchases from zip code 12345
  
  
• Ability to set an epicenter using variables. For example: a different color pin or marker indicating a special location such as a store with pins surrounding it. We'd really love to be able to do this through a joined table.
  
  
  
  • Use Case: we'd like to see where the store is on the map (maybe using a different color or marker style) and a bunch of other markers indicating purchases.
  
  
• Different markers for different fields. If a purchase was refunded, it could show up as red. If it was a purchase that was successfully handled it could be green. This could possibly be handled by being able to overlay different maps/queries.
  
  
  
  • Use Case: Being able to see refunded purchases, completed purchases, purchases from the last 24 hours (all different queries) on one map represented with different markers/pins.

Related to #3159 (geocoding IP addresses) and #4361 (geocoding cities).

These plus heat maps (#3206) would be a pretty awesome feature. Especially with the upcoming drill through features.
