Medusa: "Allowed" Episodes are still being searched and downloaded but marked failed because during script post processed. "File exists. Marking it unsafe to replace. Reason: Existing quality is already final"

This occurs when adding an existing show and having the quality profile set in HD only.

There are highly compressed episodes in old seasons that get marked as SD TV. In the Season list they are marked as "Allowed". When the daily search starts, Medusa finds higher quality episodes that meet the HD profile. This is awesome that it finds better quality episodes. I'm all for it except one breaking problem..

When it's time to get processed- nzbtomedia or Medusa is marking it "File exists. Marking it unsafe to replace. Reason: Existing quality is already final".

Obviously I DO want the files to be replaced but I don't want to have the script to force post process.

I get around this by running the manual post process and use override options.

This was not a problem until the latest release before or after christmas.

I hope this is just a configuration error.

Anyone else having this issue?

Another way I can describe this is "allowed" listed episodes are still being searched and downloaded. When it comes time to process the files it is replacing are marked as final and then the downloaded files are marked as failed. Then it keeps searching. This is causing a massive unneeded backlog.

I suspect the files Medusa snatches have an "HD" title, but are actually just SD.

Can you post your post-process log please?

Profile qualities are designed to download only one quality.

In your case as SD is not a wanted quality, it will download any HD quality and stop

Your issue is while PP. It will fix it soon as it needs first to check if existing quality is in wanted quality before doing the final quality check.

Hey fernandog. By design I see that it's working as intended finding higher quality videos as I have the main Show quality profile set at HD and it is finding upgrades to SD episodes.

The problem is it does not want to replace the file even though file size and quality file tags are present.

medariox, please see log as requested. The log contains calls starting from SABnzbd, to nzbtomedia, then finally to Medusa.

I wanted to mention that I'm using nzbtosickbeard in sabnzbd. I typicially use nzbtomedia but I see that in the wiki in medusa that I should use nzbtosickbeard?

I'd like to give some tips on how I achieve this issue.

This ONLY becomes a problem when adding existing shows. And setting the quality profile to HD. Lately, I've been switching around SickRage forks and starting from scratch on each one.

I don't have problems however when I mark shows manually as wanted and proceed with the questionnaire on quality and blackinglisting the current quality. This works fine. Please don't face2desk about this part.

I primarily like this fork the most. The manual snatching module is FANTASTIC!

Hope that helps.

I know what issue is. I will fix it

@Xenocell12 what is the current status of this episode that wasn't PPed?

from the logs seems medusa didn't snatched that episode:
This episode is not in history. Not marking it as priority

I will try and show more evidence. I've wiped out the download que and removed the show from Medusa and adding it back.

It's strange when that log says there's no snatch history but when I look at the history from the GUI, it's snatched, and it shows in history. Strange.

Like I said I will post a log from Medusa itself rather that nzbtomedia. I've also forced the fork detection as medusa in the config file for nzbtomedia.

Could you also confirm if I need to set SABnzbd script for Medusa as NzbToSickbeard? Or NzbToMedia.py? Currently, the sickbeard one from nzbtomedia is set.

We have a fix being tested.

Nice. Which branch is it being tested out if possible? I'm comfortable trying it out.

Fixed in develop.
