Lottie-web: Adobe Animate and Bodymovin / Lottie

Created on 6 May 2019  ·  155Comments  ·  Source: airbnb/lottie-web

Hi!

we would be forever grateful to get Bodymovin/Lottie working ion Adobe Animate CC.

This software is the former 'Flash', and it is not the same as Adobe After Effects.

We are really looking forward for some good news, I find more and more people asking for the same.

Cheers!

@riscovo I haven't heard this request that much.
If it gets enough traction, I might consider it in the future.

I'd like to have Bodymovin in Animate too!

If I may elaborate:
– Animate was designed for vector-based animation in the first place, contrary to After Effects.
– After Effects certainly allows doing more or less the same as Animate, but obviously when you're an Animate expert, you need a lot of work before you can reach the same level of skill on After Effects.
– After Effects probably has interesting features for advanced animation (effects, expressions...) but as far as I could see, they are not always rendered through Bodymovin. So from this viewpoint, these features are not really a benefit compared to Animate.
– As far as I'm concerned, After Effects is VERY unstable (on Windows 10). While 4 or 5 Adobe apps can easily run simultaneously, AE usually crashes on startup (9 times out of 10), even when nothing else is running. And when I finally get to the point of opening a project and working on it, it usually ends with a "lack of memory" warning and crash. I never experience that with Animate (unless a lot of apps are running at the same time, and a lot of large projects are loaded).
– Copy-paste from Illustrator seems to require a whole lot of painful rework in AE, while in Animate, it's quite straightforward.

(However, I'm aware that my lack of expertise in AE might be to blame for some of these drawbacks.)

Yes please, that would make design and handover so much easier!

Yes please! It would save me heaps of time if I could use bodymovin with Animate.

me too. I'm interesting about the PlugIn Bodymovin/Lottie. Thks

Yes, this will be great. Thanks

Please consider releasing it faster we are waiting for it from long time.

Plus 1 to @riscovo
This would be really helpful.

+1👍🏻

It would be a big thing to have this. Thanks.

+100 on behalf of my entire team. Please get us this now! Thanks @riscovo

Thanks for the message ajayvrajan. Actually all I did is to post this request, all the thanks and credits are for @bodymovin, we all are in you hands!

oh man just found this thread I'd totally love if this is available for Adobe Animate as well! As much as I want to relearn / pickup After Effects again it's just too much of a commitment and cost right now.

there is something cooking, but it's not in my hands right now.
We'll see if it works.

Yes @deesnay, I undersign everything you just wrote. I don't understand how it even happened that people started using AE for animating interactive assets for native UIs. It is a software designed to make compositing, visual effects and motion graphics for rendered applications (aka: movies, videos). Likely the 99.9% of the AE's video effects are not at all compatible with - for example - translation and integration into native code for iOS and Android. And it is not even done for interactive (real time - code driven) contents!

Adobe Animate instead is basically done for doing that job. My theory: people (and also the people at Adobe) did not understand that Animate is much more than "Flash player" and SWF proprietary movies, and also not just publish with AIR. Animate has a massive potential for producing interactive assets for the real, current App development world. So yes again, I totally undersign your words.

there is something cooking, but it's not in my hands right now.
We'll see if it works.

Hey @bodymovin, this sounds amazing. Can I support? Like do you need some testing or so.

Tell us more, you are teasing us now :)

+1 from my team. Bodymovin plugin for Animate would be v useful. Happy to pay for the plugin.

Hey, would love to help with the development

Hey guys, thank you all for working on this feature.
I'm looking forward to trying it

Hey all, any update?

@bodymovin I would be happy to help them. Can you put us in contact please?

I asked if there was a roadmap for this in another issue queue before finding this. I've found this vendor that seems to be more promising than using AE/bodymovin. https://www.haikuforteams.com Note I am not affiliated with haikuforteams and exploring their free trial now.

I asked if there was a roadmap for this in another issue ...

Thanks for sharing. I think Haiku has it's own timeline and animation editor, I am not aware it can import animations from Adobe Animate. Can you link me to a specific reference page?

@riscovo you are correct! I haven't been able to import anything from animate CC either. :( These felt like a workaround from using AE. Still hoping for bodymovin animate cc support. @bodymovin is there a ballpark of when this may come or if it's even on the table at all?

For animate users, u could use: http://svga.io/en/index.html

Hi Guys,

I am the Product Manager for Adobe Animate. It is great to see all the support from the Lottie/Bodymovin users for Animate. It will be awesome to have Bodymovin onboard. In fact, one of the interns created a working prototype of the Lottie plug-in for Animate. We will be happy to share the prototype for further development and provide any/all support required to take this forward.

Those who'd like to try out the prototype plug-in can join our pre-release here - http://adobe.ly/20AEkbJ

Also, if you are interested in speaking or sharing your thoughts directly, you can reach out to me at [email protected]

Thanks,
Ajay

I'm going to try the prerelease. Where can I find the plug-in within the program?

Hey, I've installed the pre-released version via your link.
The plugin you mentioned is nowhere to be found.
I went through the pre-release docs, there is no reference to Lottie.
Same goes for adobe pre-release forums.
Could you please elaborate? many people would love to help and contribute back.

Thanks.

Just a quick update. The plug-in is yet to be posted on the pre-release. We need to clean it up and add some documentation. We will try to make it available by mid next week.

Thank you very much for the interest. I am sure we will find a way to take this forward.

Hi,

Please give us a couple of days to clean up the plug-in and add some documentation. We will try to have it available in the pre-release shortly.

Thanks,
Ajay

How do we get access as well? This is great news!!

Hi Ajay, I am playing with the Lottie/Bodymovin plugin prototype for Animate. Exciting to export my work from Adobe Animate directly to JSON, in one click! Thanks!

I am very, very happy that you are working at this and I am looking forward for the necessary improvements (such as using movie-clips and so on).

Do you have an idea of the release date of the first mvp or official version?

Where can we (users) keep track of your release planing, and how can we give you a more structured support?

I guess adobe are planning to create a repo for the plugin, same as it was for snapsvg animator.

How do we get access as well? This is great news!!

Hi @abiem , is the pre-release link provided by @shuklaaj not working for you ?

Same question for @pixelease .

Thanks for the progress @shuklaaj. I've just sent you an email directly with some feedback from testing the pre-release.

Hello,
I downloaded the pre release and the Lottie plugin zip file-- the lottie plugin needs to be installed via a third party extension mangager called Anaistaiy (install.anastasiy.com/) but the site is down. is there another way to install Lottie with the prerelease? Thanks in advance @shuklaaj

btw the link has changed for the prerelease a bit, here it is now
https://www.adobeprerelease.com/beta/3B30CA89-E8DE-4103-F0A6-298480AA70D2/

Ok, found an old third party link to the extentsion manager plugin and all is working now.

sadly I did not read through to the end of the readme txt-- this only works on shape tweens-- no movie clips or graphics.. sigh. this is pretty useless for my team now. Are there plans to integrate support for Graphics or Movie clips? Shape tweening doesn't work well for more complex animations. Thanks to the Adobe and Lottie teams for all they do!

Trying to get the plugin installed. Just to confirm, does the plugin allow to import JSON files for use in Animate or just export?

probably redundant, but I think that animate cc is absolutely the best authoring environment for vector based timeline animations. I know we all think of it as old Flash, but there is a huge need in the market for an easy and intuitive way to design, visualize and compile rich animated svg graphics and if Animate and lottie can figure this out then they will be a category killer. Best of luck, I'll be watching this thread...

That's actually quite good because snapsvg animator if memory serves me right, didn't support shape tweens, only movie clips. Should not be a hard implementation, so I guess it'll come in stages.

Make it available for PC too! a dream come true...

Hi Guys,

I am really overwhelmed by all the support. As I mentioned earlier, this is just a prototype that we managed to do as a side project. I was wondering if there are any developers on this forum who can take this forward similar to what we did with AMP HTML Ads - https://exchange.adobe.com/creativecloud.details.101647.amphtml-ad.html . You are familiar with the platform and we will provide all the help from the Animate Custom Platform SDK perspective. This will allow us to make quick progress. It will also allow us to have releases independent of Animate.

Look forward to hear from you.

Thanks,
Ajay

Hi Ajay, indeed, I think @Wavez and few others in this thread offered their help to collaborate with you. I would also give a hand but i have not sufficient technical background. nevertheless i can help with tests and feedback. If there is a structured system for this in place or any other feedback method is welcome, please let me know.

Hi @riscovo @Wavez ,

Happy to put up a structure in place to get the collaboration going. I will need one person to be the leader. I can then create a separate collaboration group on our pre-release. @wavez would you be up to it. :-)

Please let me know.

Thanks,
Ajay

Sure :) I would be happy to help.

Excellent! We will share the sample code shortly.

Hi Guys,

Here's the git repository containing the lottie plug-in exploration code - https://github.com/Jaswant99/Animate-Lottie-Plugin

I will encourage you to join our pre-release at http://adobe.ly/20AEkbJ . This will help coordinate any potential issues you encounter. I am, however, open to discussion here or on our pre-release or you can simply drop me a mail at [email protected]

Look forward to quick progress on this plug-in.

Thanks,
Ajay

Hi, guys! I have successfully installed this plugin in animate(via Anastasi's manager), but is not in the window "extensions"...I can't find instructions on how to apply it..

The ability to snapshot a svg in after effects is amazing. I'd love to build in a button to export the entire SVG sequence. I'm not sure where to start though. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi, guys! I have successfully installed this plugin in animate(via Anastasi's manager), but is not in the window "extensions"...I can't find instructions on how to apply it..

Hi @dddaaaarrriaaa, did you manage too solve you issue?

Hello Ajay @shuklaaj ,

how are things going with the plugin for Animate?

Would you like to give us an update?

Cheers

We've already made the sample plugin code available on github - https://github.com/Jaswant99/Animate-Lottie-Plugin and are hoping the community will pick it up and take it forward. We will help in whatever way possible.

Thanks,
Ajay

hi @riscovo !Thank you for your interest in my problem! Unfortunately this plugin is still not in the "extensions" window. But maybe I misunderstood where to look for it and how to apply it? I will be glad to any advice! P.S As far as I understand, this plugin only works with motion tween animations. Is it possible that in the future such a plug-in will be able to convert frame-by-frame animation into the json format? thank you very much for the anser!

I can use the plugin (use File > Convert > Lottie) but I have an issue where the document seems to draw black lines randomly during animation. Mileage may vary I guess?

Steps I used to install and use Lottie Extension:

Install Animate CC 20 Prerelease -
https://www.adobeprerelease.com/beta/3B30CA89-E8DE-4103-F0A6-298480AA70D2

Download Lottie Plugin ZXP -
https://github.com/Jaswant99/Animate-Lottie-Plugin/tree/master/Lottie

Install ExtensionManager -
https://install.anastasiy.com/

Install Lottie Plugin ZXP for Animate CC via ExtensionManager

Make new Animate Doc, 512x512, 30/60fps.
Create animation, save file.

File > Convert > Lottie
File > Publish

I hope this helps! If I could get help regarding random black lines appearing in final animation, that'd be wonderful.

I'm a designer and I would love to have this option in Adobe Animate. Tried out the POC, but it's still very limited. It would make sense for Adobe to add Lottie support to Animate to make the product more relevant. I (as well as my fellow designers) would be forever grateful if anyone were to continue development on this! :)

PS: Pleeeeeeaaaaase?

I know it's a lot to ask, but if this technically possible maybe someone could make a Windows build of the Lottie Plugin? I tried to make my own Lottie export by extending Animate, but JSFL is still as buggy and horrifying as it was from it's first appearance.

It would make sense for Adobe to add Lottie support to Animate to make the product more relevant. I (as well as my fellow designers)

@Gerwolvert , yes, we also believe so. Many other people is asking for the same indeed.

This is really sad to say, because I am a long time aficionado of Adobe Animate, and we (me and my company's teams) invested in this software many resources. But l am afraid that the pressure to keep this software up-to-date with certain market's standards is no longer what it used to be.

@shuklaaj @charlesbunny @Jaswant99

Anyone could tell me why does this animation crash Animate CC when publishing to a Lottie JSON?

Lucas_Lottie(Beta).fla.zip

@arturosanz this lottie plugin was just a POC. It does not support Graphic or MovieClip. It only supports main timeline shapes and tweens.

Anyone could tell me why does this animation crash Animate CC when publishing to a Lottie JSON?

Lucas_Lottie(Beta).fla.zip

Hi @arturosanz I tried your file. I confirm it crashes also on my machine. Indeed let's wait for the reply from @shuklaaj ant the Adobe team.

...very cool animation by the way! :)

I guess Adobe itself should consider and invest HUGE MORE on web compatibility.

Hi all,

We at LottieFiles have been working with the teams at Adobe Animate to support Lottie within Animate.
We are thrilled to share that soon you'd be able to export as Lottie JSON (Bodymovin) and dotLottie.

We’d be testing and releasing this plugin to you all by the end of February, early March time frame. In the meantime should you have feature requests, suggestions or comments, send them our way.

Thanks

That is awesome! Will there be anyway to import lottiefiles into Adobe
Animate?
Right now I'm capturing each frame as an svg. Very time consuming lol.

@reallynattu Awesomeness!!!

Looking forward. Let me know if you want some support for the testing.

@reallynattu Wow! It sounds very cool! I will cross out the days in the calendar as before Christmas :)

Hi All,
Any updates on the plugin. Really excited about it!.

I'm so glad to hear an Adobe Animate plugin is coming soon!

Do you have an ETA for this amazing Animate export to Lottie JSON (Bodymovin). Are you still planning to release this month? Thank in advance!

@reallynattu as posted previously, please consider me available for help in testing. I am UX designer, Game Designer and animator.

stealing concept even logo from macromedia flash player...not releasing plugin for flash.

Hi everyone and thanks in advance for all the beautiful work you are doing.
I have some old SWF's I created years ago, from my Flash days, of course I don't
have the sources anymore, but would really love to try converting them to Lottie.
Will there be a way to convert SWF to Lottie? Thank you once again!

Any update on release date? I can't wait to use this in my project!

Any update on the release date? please give us some info about the progress

Any news? 😊

I’ve been working with web animations for elementor (wordpress) and I can’t tell you how awesome it could be creating the animations in animate instead of after effects...

Can’t wait for this to be released!
Are there any news?

same here... I love adobe animate so much and use it for all my animations (including for WordPress sites I build) ..really hope they will give us some kind of reliable ETA

There is finally an official release date! It is.. early March 2020... which is a month ago o_0

Probably they have some delay. I believe it is worth to wait for the good things to come!
But please release it, we are looking forward!

I'm chiming in with a high level of interest in support for Adobe Animate exporting Lottie files. Really excited about this.

Is there anything we can do?

Any news on this topic? Almost the end of April. I know you can do it. C'mon guys!

Pleeeaaase, please release the plugin 😩😫😭😢

Hope to soon be able to convert swf to a lottie file, that would be wonderful!

👋One more person eagerly awaiting Lottie for Animate support! 🙏

Hey all, thank you for being patient with us on the LottieFiles for Animate plugin. We are thrilled to invite you for an early test of the plugin. It will help us perfect the experience for the public release.

Signed up too ! Could be really useful for an ongoing project

Same here! been watching this convo for months : P Fingers crossed something happens soon!

anyone get their invite!? This will be a massive plugin!

Did you guys received a confirmation email when placing your early access request. We can't wait to try this out!

No email yet! I could reeeeally use the plugin today!

Still nothing 😕😢

I just discovered this program and HAD to make an account here to show my support. Signed up for the early release and now I’m excitedly waiting for the new plugin. So pumped!

...since September 2019 (the release of the POC version by adobe that seems to work but with the bugs mentioned above https://github.com/airbnb/lottie-web/issues/1604#issuecomment-546453841) there hasn't been any report of real progress (..besides a comment by @reallynattu from Lottie files on March 2020 saying that they are still testing a plugin version and posting a link to register for the early release).. we are all been waiting here for so long...
this is very frustrating since Elementor just released a new official pro version that supports Lottie files
I really hope good news will come ASAP 🙏

Ah, I just realised this was announced on 1st April, it looks like we've all been trolled.

I don't think so...an alpha version of the plugin already exists and @reallynattu announced Lottie files and Adobe teamed up together for this issue already in February, his comments suggesting users sign up for early access are from last May ..this doesn't look like a 1st April joke to me

Has anyone received the beta yet? I must admit I was a bit too hopeful/reckless when planning a project that sort of depends on being able to export lottie json from animate, for this week. I've been using the super early version posted somewhere above and while I can just about get it to work, if I break apart everything down to the base vectors and only use shape tweens on the main timeline, the resulting output works OK but has rough vectors in places. As soon as I try to classic tween a movieclip on the main timeline, Animate crashes on publish attempt. Does anyone using the super early version have the same issues?

If I'm planning ahead to when the plugin is released, it would at least be good to know if it will support nested movieclips and therefore independent timelines... does anyone have any information on that? Also, masking, motion paths etc.. I guess it wouldn't be much use without those things so maybe I'm just reading too much into the state of the alpha version 😅

would be great if beta is released this year, but I really think this will be released at least in the first quarter of 2021. How are the current lottie files created if it's not with this plugin? Can't wait to use it! This would be a perfect time to practice

I subscribed to the waiting list. I can only hope that the plugin will be released soon !!
This plugin is really important for the community, please give it priority on your roadmap and give us a feedback !

Hi. I'd also be happy when it releases.

Hi. I'd also be happy when it releases.

It won't be ever released i believe

Please Release it

Just wondering if anyone has any news on the plugin?
Still very eagerly awaiting :)

These are the last news I know about:

The Product manager of Adobe Animate posts on this blog the release of a beta of the plugin. It was ~one year ago:
https://github.com/airbnb/lottie-web/issues/1604#issuecomment-524190537

In early 2020 an official Adobe article appears online, to announce the plugin for the broad public. Later in the year the article has been removed from online (I don't have official explanations or excuses for this act). This is the PDF version:
LottieFiles Support in Adobe Animate Coming Soon… _ Adobe Blog.pdf
And this is the Google-cached version: https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:W3ikiShXUicJ:https://adobe.ly/2wwLABt+&cd=2&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=nl
LottieFiles Support in Adobe Animate Coming Soon… _ Adobe Blog.pdf

In the same period, also an official tweet from Adobe announced the release of the plugin:

Screenshot 2020-08-03 at 11 14 16

Since then, probably as a consequence of the publicity that Adobe itself gave to this important pug-in release, more and more people is joining this and other threads to ask Adobe to release the promised updates, or at least to say something, anything, about the progress.

I am sure the intention of Adobe is not to be ghosting the Adobe community (although, so far, someone may think this is actually looking like that..), so I am sure that they will let us know something soon.

Here's an update from a couple of days ago
https://twitter.com/LottieFiles/status/1288875881201430528

so there is still a hope 😃

Phew! That is a relief 😅

@riscovo Thanks for keeping our hope alive.

Looking forward to bodymovin for Animate. Animate's is my jam. Being forced to use AE I'm like a fish out of water and the amount of drill down you have to do is borderline nightmare. Vector art is where lotti files shine and Animate is all about that. Here's to waiting a bit longer.

Anyone have a more recent update?

mm...dedo bhai pls

Animate cc is the perfect tool for vector-based animation.
I hope that we will soon be able to take advantage of this opportunity to create Lottie content.
This makes sense 😀

Looking forward to this as well!

Me too 🙏

Today I visited Animate's website to see what's new from previous year, was kinda dissappointed that the updates were so focused on just html canvas. I believe lottie is a great bet for Adobe as it's getting more popular everyday.

it seems like a really bad idea for an open standard like this to be so reliant on proprietary software. EXPENSIVE proprietary software, no less.

Any updates after almost one and a half years? 🤔

Yes we want (good) news !

This is a tough year for everyone so I totally understand delays — for the sake of the devs though I would hope they could set expectations a little better as to whether we should expect it soon or not. Either way is ok but my hopes were set too high for an end of Sept beta release following the last communication from Lottie 😞

Wise words. A tough year that justifies delays combined with some lack of expectations management.

What also I found very interesting in this year is the amount of people requesting such feature for Animate CC. When I started this request on May 2019 I was sure that Adobe should steer their development focus in this direction, but I could not find many confirms in the online community. Now the confirms are so many and the demand from users seems very clear (not only via this thread, also via other platforms and furthermore also in the new releases from Adobe competitors in animations softwares for digital).

I am also still confident in a positive outcome of this. Still looking forward for our old Adobe to surprise us again.

@riscovo As I understand things, Adobe has nothing to do with this plugin, but rather the people behind Lottiefiles.com (not sure whether or not Adobe is helping out) – for what it's worth :)

Hi @willhindson,

Adobe has actually more than something to do with this plugin... since more than one year ago :)

Screenshot 2020-11-12 at 11 15 30

Oh! Cool didn't realise. Still no news though 😭

Here's another comment... I'm just trying to keep this request alive. Hoping for someone from Adobe to see this. ;-) (would be cool to have this for Christmas or 2021)

I think I've lost all faith on Adobe.

Been using their products since the 90s (always bought all the Actionscript
bibles) but ever since I've started playing around and actually delivering
work with Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher I just don't see the point in
working with them anymore.

I've reached out to a developer that has provided a very rudimentary
Blender Lottie plugin and I already started working on it until another
player releases a stable tool.

Goodbye Adobe. No more money for you. I no longer respect you since you
don't respect your clients and fans.

Hi @JPLoureiro83 , indeed Blender seems like an increasingly interesting alternative, now also for 2D animation. It could solve the need of some of us in this forum, but probably not all of us.

I assume you want to create animations for UIs and Apps (ios/android) - hence you also like me have interest in a Lottie-like plugin that allows developers to embed it easily into their UI development tool. Which is the type of compatibility that, so far, Animate is totally missing out.

Are you looking at animated illustration and micro animations to be embedded into an UI, or also looking at integrated/interactive animations and UI (UX...) screen transitions? For interactive I mean parts of the animation you control by code and not jus by timeline. For transitions I mean actual screens staging and navigation into an App, and not just a local animation.

I ask this, because what I (used to..) like of Animate is the huge potential in prototyping and delivering hi-fi and complete navigations systems, interactive animations, micro and macro interactions, all custom made. Unfortunately, this is a potential that Adobe does not understand, year after year losing slowly losing it. So nowadays there are dozens of 'UX prototyping' tools out there nowadays (also one from Adobe, into 'XD'), they all promise professional 'UI animation' but they are actually offering a little more than bunch of presets to move from screen X to screen Y when I tap on Z. Almost all of the features that they offer, looks like the same kids-toy box to a professional animator. There is no space for exploration and innovation, which is what made Animate fantastic some years ago.

Do you see what I mean. Maybe starting from here we can help each other to find the next (real) step in professional software for animation for interactive projects and UIs.

@JPLoureiro83 Thanks for pointing out Affinty's products. It's worth testing it. My faith in Adobe's product is fading away as well. Saddly there's no Vector base Animator alternative right now. To make Lottie animation from Affinity we would need to create the vector in the Designer then move to Adobe After Effect, animate then export to Lottie. :-(

Hey all,

We are pleased to release an early access build of _LottieFiles for Animate_ plugin for testing.

Scene export, main timelines, all shapes, and symbols are currently supported. This release does not currently handle all nested symbol timeline scenarios yet. Bitmap graphics support is not included in this release either, as we ran into a few issues that need more work to solve cleanly. We will be releasing regular updates in the coming weeks as we discover issues, fix them, and keep adding more features.

Please leave your candid feedback, feature requests, and bug reports at https://lottiefiles.com/discuss/product/animate-plugin.

There are a limited number of publically available Animate Project files; this limits our testing. It would be really helpful if you could share the use case, the sample file, or even the actual project file for us to replicate the issue. All files shared will be treated strictly confidential and will only be used for QA purposes.

LottieFiles for Animate 0.4.0

Happy testing and thanks!

did anyone succeed using the new plugin for exporting a JSON file that works correctly?
so far every time I export I preview my exported JSON it shows as if it's blank and sometimes Adobe Animate even shows me an error message that says 'A JavaScript error occurred. TypeError: dom is null'

also when entering the cogwheel (which I assume is for settings) I some times got lots of error messages like this:
TypeError: this.elements[n].destroy is not a function This is located at: at n (file:///Library/Application%20Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/com.lottiefiles.animate/index.html:24:235846) at div at or (file:///Library/Application%20Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/com.lottiefiles.animate/index.html:80:1397548) at div at div at Hr (file:///Library/Application%20Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/com.lottiefiles.animate/index.html:94:2485) at ro (file:///Library/Application%20Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/com.lottiefiles.animate/index.html:148:7) at to (file:///Library/Application%20Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/com.lottiefiles.animate/index.html:170:34) at r (file:///Library/Application%20Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/com.lottiefiles.animate/index.html:76:91709) at yn (file:///Library/Application%20Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/com.lottiefiles.animate/index.html:80:13) at r (file:///Library/Application%20Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/com.lottiefiles.animate/index.html:76:92601) at r (file:///Library/Application%20Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/com.lottiefiles.animate/index.html:76:88724) at r (file:///Library/Application%20Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/com.lottiefiles.animate/index.html:76:89639) at div at i (file:///Library/Application%20Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/com.lottiefiles.animate/index.html:24:250309) at Fn (file:///Library/Application%20Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/com.lottiefiles.animate/index.html:80:2092) at Bn (file:///Library/Application%20Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/com.lot

I Will be more than happy to share FLA files, JSON files, screenshots, etc. if it will help them to solve the problem

Thank you! Just starting to test this out.
Two hurdles I came across, hope this helps others:
· Install the .zxp file using Anastisy's Extension Manager http://install.anastasiy.com
· The Extension can be found under Window › Extensions:

Hi @liteowl did you try exporting one of your existing projects into the Lotti JSON file and did experienced any of the problems I described?

So far, no animation is exporting correctly. The preview and dragging the .json files to lottieFiles.app is showing the same thing; one or two frames and the rest is blank.
@doronwolf23 I also got the error 'A JavaScript error occurred. TypeError: dom is null' one time.

If there are certain types of animation that are not allowed, it would be helpful to know.

On a more complicated animation (previously succesfully exported to HTML5 (easel.js/create.js) I get these errors:

  • 'A JavaScript error occurred. TypeError: timeline is undefined' when opening the LottieFiles extension
  • When the extension window is loaded, I click the arrow to start rendering, and it hangs on 'Inspecting composition'

Hi @liteowl they said: _"This release does not currently handle all nested symbol timeline scenarios yet. Bitmap graphics support is not included in this release either"_ so I would understand why those kinds of animation wouldn't export correctly, but the problem is that even when I try the most basic simple animation that doesn't have those properties, almost 99% of the time it will still fail to export correctly ...and I will get the error 'A JavaScript error occurred. TypeError: dom is null' many times so.. this is far from beta.. @jawish are you following this thread? can we help in any way to make the plugin more stable?

Hi! I finally managed to create an animation and publish it:
https://lottiefiles.com/47799-lottie-now-likes-adobe-animate-at-least-a-bit

I use Shape Tweens.
Classic and Motion Tweens doesn´t seem to work, yet.

Exactly!... I would expect something basic as Classic Tweens to work
also, even Shape Tweens work only some times
most times it won't export correctly just like Classic Tweens
I really hope they are working on it...

I totally agree with you. Let's hope it works out soon!

Yes, I am following this discussion. Super helpful guys, thanks!

We are working on setting up ways aggregate and better streamline this feedback and working on fix the issues with the classic tweens.

Great to hear! What we are using a lot is classic tweens with nested timelines, usually one movie clip placed many times on the timeline as graphics so we can see them animate together.

Great to see the beta is out! Very nice integration into Animate.
However I must agree with others that its use is quite limited if classic or motion tweens do not work. Nested timelines of course would be ideal but I could live without that if at least the tweens were working correctly. Unfortunately in its current state I'm unable to export anything correctly. Looking forward to further developments! :)

edit: In fact, for the record, having tried it a bit more, basic shape tweens are not even working for me :(
