Currently, the private preview allows participants to jump to the file location of another participant, as well as “pinning” to a participant, which allows you to automatically follow along with future file and cursor position changes.
However, there may be scenarios where a participant wants to actively capture the attention of everyone else in the collaboration session, as opposed to asking/expecting them to separately jump to/pin to their current file/cursor position. To support this type of interaction, we could add a “summon” capability to allow a one-time sync of all participants active file/cursor position.
@lostintangent this would be great to have! One of my employees is visually impaired and always zoomed in with windows magnifier, this feature would save us a lot of time troubleshooting/debugging if I could "summon" him to my current location if I think I found the issue vs him having to pan his entire screen to get to the pin button or to the solution/file explorer and finding the file.
It'd be nice to have a setting to determine whether it opens a new tab or changes the current one when you are "summoned"
@RyanWilsonBIBend Would you expect the summon feature to notify all participants (more of a "ping"?) that you wanted to capture their attention, and give them the option to ignore it?
I would expect it to be more of a ping.
Maybe the Host could have a "Force Move" option where they are moved to the cursor of the Host ?
@lostintangent , I think a lot of people are going to agree with @HeapUnderfl0w that they'd expect it to be more of a ping. A ping is certainly not ideal for the situation I'm thinking of with the visually impaired guy I work with. Because he's so zoomed in with magnifier it's really hard for him to see notifications when they pop up. So maybe it's something where there should be an option for either more "ping" like or forced.
I think it'd be ideal if when the "Forced Pin/Move" is set, that being forced to move would open the move in a new tab rather than changing the current document tab. That way people don't lose what they were doing beforehand/can easily switch back to what they were doing
This should now be available in v0.3.392/v.0.393.
