Hello ornicar!
I came again with one new set, exclusivity for lichess, it is called Tatiana. I hope you like it!

Also, please don't forget the cardinal fixes- it fixes the knight to look more of a horse, instead of a mad bulldog :)), also it makes the queen more soft.

I applied the cardinal fix. Not sure I want to add more pieces atm.
Please please consider adding this new set - i got positive feedback from my friends and family!!
Or remove gioco or maestro and add this one... please
Also please add the upper fix - the last one had a gradient problem...
@sadsnake1 I think it's worth iterating further on any existing sets you may have, including this one. They've been included as they're solid enough, so the style is right, just consider any minor improvements that could be made that keep the same style.
In particular, I'd like to draw your attention to Gioco's shading, which I think could be improved on the King and Rook pieces especially. The main concern is the shape of the shade, as well as its strength. Note that if you change how strong the shade is, it would have to apply to all pieces for a consistent look. Something to think about.
I also believe the Knight could be made a bit more attractive in that set.
Every other piece in Gioco is magnificent and exemplary. Thanks as always for your impressive and hard work that has enriched Lichess so much.
Question to the devs - is there an offline (cli) tool to validate SVGs in a directory? Just want to check if it's all valid. The volume of files would be a chore to upload to the W3C's validator one-by-one, especially as they're continually being improved.
After that, we can run them through svgo to cut them down in size, since that concern was brought up in an older issue by sadsnake.
Once we do, we have to run them by the validator a second time to be sure they're all correct (it _can_ mess things up on complex vectors). I'm happy to take this on as it's still a chore, but a simple one that I've done before on Wikipedia's behalf. Would really help though if you could point me to an SVG-specific validator (not just XML).
@superuser-does thank you for your support.
I am constantly looking at the pieces of every set, I want them to be very different from each other (shape, size, color, feel). I think that the fresca and cardinal are 99.99% complete, as for maestro and gioco i will see what i can do about them as I am not happy at how they look and how they feel to play. My only hope is that the players will use the sets and that maybe one day one of my sets will become the default set for lichess.
Hello ornicar,
Here is the updated version of gioco. I think it is better now.

Also please look at the new set- v2 - tatiana. Please consider adding it, it is my best set as of today.

Also, please add this fresca fix for the K and Q. Thank you!

Thank you ornicar! Thank you very much!
You know me and I just... reduced the outlines a lil bit, colors and other fixes.
I know. It's ok. Good designs require iterations.
maestro-.Bp.fix.zip
Slimmed down Bishop and Pawn for maestro.
fresca-shade (1).zip
Reduced shading for fresca.
tatiana-shade.zip
Reduced shade and outline for tatiana.
cardinal-Kfix.zip
Removed the dot the K in cardinal. (looked similar with the B)
Some of sets work better on darker boards, especially with wood texture, so please in the future consider adding more of those.
Also if you have any other complaints regarding the sets, please let me know.
Also thank you for your support and dedication!
ok from now one can we change the way we do updates? I'd love to get a single zip containing all the pieces in their respective directory.
multi.zip
- maestro
- all maestro svg files (or just the updated ones)
- fresca
- tatiana
- cardinal
sorry ornicar, the last update messed the tatiana set. here is the fix.
I improved the shadows and the overall quality + size optimization.

Top-down view of the staunton set.
Will they work for lichess? Should i contact the artist?
No, we already have better symmetrical pieces in the app. These are quite unreadable.
please update with the last update for the cardinal set ( K,N fix and size optimization for pieces)

fixed symmetry for some pieces for cardinal set.
reduced piece size for fresca and tatiana and remodeled Q,K to match more.
-some size tweaks to the cardinal set.
-remodeled maestro completely because it was really really ugly

I preferred the plain to the wood-textured version actually (the one before you edited your comment).
Here is the plain version. I like this one better too.
last tweaks for fresca and maestro, color, size, etc.
thank you for your support.
