Kratos Barcelona Meeting Minutes 2017-11-22

Minutes of the meeting of the Kratos Barcelona Group. 22nd November 2017

_List of attendants: Pooyan Dadvand, Jordi Cotela, Carlos Roig, Rubén Zorrilla, Vicente Mataix, Ignasi de Pouplana, Miguel Angel Celigueta, Ilara Iaconeta, Riccardo Rossi, Josep Maria Carbonell_

1- Release 5.2.

• People should test the GUI’s they are involved in, before the release, to fix possible bugs.
• Reminder to the DEM team: the GUI included in the Release should be updated to be compatible with the executable.

2- Examples

@pooyan-dadvand explains that many people (PhD students) contact the Kratos Group because they found some interesting videos or web sites about Kratos examples. Then, they ask about the detals: ‘How was this run? How long does it take? How do you couple this with that?’ A library of examples will be the proof of concept for those who study the possibility to get involved with Kratos.
We propose to add runnable examples (application examples, validation examples) in the Examples repository (https://github.com/KratosMultiphysics/Examples). A Readme.md file should explaing with detail what does the example do. If possible, the deadline for this should be similar to that of the Release 5.2.

• @pooyan-dadvand will add the City of Barcelona case (fluid dynamics)
• @rubenzorrilla will add an example of FSI
• @josep-m-carbonell will add an example of the solid mechanics
• @maceligueta will add a DEM case with inlets and clusters
• @GuillermoCasas could add an example of swimming dem
• @ipouplana will add an undrained soil column and a hydraulic fracture case (@lorenzogracia will also add a couple of examples from the DamApp)
• @iiaconeta will add a dambreak (granular material)
• @jcotela will add a classical example of Fluid Dynamics
• @roigcarlo adds an example running in MPI
• @RiccardoRossi adds some example using the structural application
• @loumalouomega add adaptative remeshing examples as well as structural examples

3- Release 5.3.

Fix GUI _groups_ and _transform_.

4- Others

• @josep-m-carbonell comments that the GUI does not have Transform option (update old cases with newer versions of the GUI). @loumalouomega comments that @jginternational is working on it.
• @josep-m-carbonell comments that adding tests is too complex. @roigcarlo says it can be simplified if we work on it.

Next meeting will be held on 29th November, and we should dedicate some time to the unit tests and other example tests, and how to add them to Kratos (and in which repository)

From the GUI point of view, I'm working on the "transform" feature. But it's not easy. As an advance, the Kratos release 5.2 will not have this feature working. In fact, we'll probably need to wait to the next version of GiD (13.1.10d)

Just to have it clear, in point 3, what do you mean with "fix gui groups"?
