Description of the problem including expected versus actual behavior: Maps are not getting displayed on Chrome(Data points are getting displayed). Please note this is ok on safari/firefox.
cannot reproduce this on Ubuntu 16, so may be a mac only issue.
Cannot reproduce on another Mac. Keeping it open for a couple of days.
Same in 6.3.0 BC1
Cannot reproduce this on my Mac but can confirm this is an issue, @bhavyarm can reproduce fairly consistently. The tiles get loaded correctly (using the network inspector), but just don't get drawn on screen. This will require some more investigation.
The co-ordinate map looks like this in visualize (if you uncheck desaturation - you can see the map):

Region map:

I experienced this problem in Mac OS X El Capitan, but after the upgrade to High Sierra, the map tiles display, even with "Desaturate map tiles" checked.
@thomasneirynck - do u think you can look at this issue for 6.3.2 ? Else we will have to move the labels.
This is over 2 years old now. Maps are working correctly in current versions, and I'm pretty sure we never released a version that they didn't work in. I don't think we can debug any of these instances at this point so I'm going to close.
Broken on IE in 6.6.0 BC2 because (I think) of this;

In case you are still in search of the solution:
Go to the visualization edit page, click on "options" segment. And change "Layers" to "road_map" and click on play button to look at the updated map.

From @hackSlanger , this may actually be a dupe of https://github.com/elastic/kibana/issues/36734 cc @aaronjcaldwell
closing. This has been fixed in master and the default layers is selected
