Author instructions

Thanks for submitting your paper to JOSS @SuperKam91. Currently, there isn't an JOSS editor assigned to your paper.

@SuperKam91 if you have any suggestions for potential reviewers then please mention them here in this thread. In addition, this list of people have already agreed to review for JOSS and may be suitable for this submission.

Editor instructions

The JOSS submission bot @whedon is here to help you find and assign reviewers and start the main review. To find out what @whedon can do for you type:

Hello human, I'm @whedon, a robot that can help you with some common editorial tasks.

For a list of things I can do to help you, just type:

@whedon commands

For example, to regenerate the paper pdf after making changes in the paper's md or bib files, type:

@whedon generate pdf

What happens now?

This submission is currently in a pre-review state which means we are waiting for an editor to be assigned and for them to find some reviewers for your submission. This may take anything between a few hours to a couple of weeks. Thanks for your patience :smile_cat:

You can help the editor by looking at this list of potential reviewers to identify individuals who might be able to review your submission (please start at the bottom of the list). Also, feel free to suggest individuals who are not on this list by mentioning their GitHub handles here.

Attempting PDF compilation. Reticulating splines etc...

PDF failed to compile for issue #1787 with the following error:

Can't find any papers to compile :-(

Hi @SuperKam91, thanks for your interest in JOSS. Before we start our process, I noticed that while your repository contains a number of Python files, it is not structured like a formal, installable Python package.

Can you work on structuring it in this way, for example following guidelines like https://docs.python-guide.org/writing/structure/ ?

Regarding the paper, I think you need to fix the header:

# Abstract

(I think the missing --- at the end is the issue)

Hi @kyleniemeyer thank you for your comments. I have now updated the paper.md with the correct formatting. I have also introduced a much more comprehensive installation procedure (and guidance in the README.md). The changes can be found at the same url: https://github.com/SuperKam91/gns but note I had to create a new repo due to some issues (the old repo is now at https://github.com/SuperKam91/gns_old). I hope this doesn't cause any issues for @whedon...!

@SuperKam91 looks like it worked!

Hi @mbobra, could you edit this submission?

@whedon generate pdf

Attempting PDF compilation. Reticulating splines etc...

Here are some things you can ask me to do:

# List Whedon's capabilities
@whedon commands

# List of editor GitHub usernames
@whedon list editors

# List of reviewers together with programming language preferences and domain expertise
@whedon list reviewers

EDITORIAL TASKS

# Compile the paper
@whedon generate pdf

# Compile the paper from alternative branch
@whedon generate pdf from branch custom-branch-name

# Ask Whedon to check the references for missing DOIs
@whedon check references

@SuperKam91 👋 — I'm the Associate Editor-in-Chief on rotation this week, and have reached out to the potential handling editor by email now. We'll be looking to get started with the review soon. In the meantime, I have two requests:

  1. Could you look through our list of potential reviewers to see if you can suggest someone? ( feel free to suggest reviewers from outside the list, too).
  2. Could you think of a modified title for your paper that doesn't sound like a general method, and is more descriptive of your software? It may be as easy as adding "GNS:" as prefix, but if you think of a few more descriptive words, that is useful.

Thanks!

@benjaminrose
@zhampel
@nespinoza
@danehkar
@dhuppenkothen

Hi @labarba and @SuperKam91, I would be happy to review this!
