Tiles are stacking when in grid view. Uninstall and reinstall was tried, still broken.
Chrome Version 88.0.4324.150 (Official Build) (x86_64)
MacOS Catalina Version 10.15.7
Gridview 1.37.0

Yep, this is true I just woke up and go to the meet but the tiles are stacked up so I can't see my students and can't use the google meet attendance, the developer should fix this asap because other people will affect
Seconded this issue. Have fixed before by reloading but not working anymore.
Same issue!
I hope anyone who finds any solution, spread it..
Any solutions to this yet?
I am having this same problem. I second Mojorisin's statement - has anyone found a solution, or know if there will be an update?
Happens to me also
Yes, it seems that google stopped it by updating itself..we should ask google to enable it back.. Please let us all complain.
Still haven't found a good solution - but I reported to google to update their tile version to make it more like this extension, maybe if they hear it enough they'll change.
From the Grid View (Fix) GitHub page:
UPDATE 02/11/2021:
It turns out that Google is testing an update of Meet that disables the Grid View extension. This is why sometimes it works and sometimes not (you see the boxes in a vertical bar). If you seriously need Grid View right now, you might consider refreshing a few times the browser tab (you should end up loading the old compatible version at a certain point).
I am really sorry but I have to temporarily remove the extension from Chrome Web Store. In fact, updating Grid View would require a huge amount of work or may not be feasible at all. Please, remember that Google Meet introduced native grid view (up to 49 tiles).
That stinks. Googles native grid does not have the same features at all.
Very frustrating.

A temporary fix for the problem (vertical stacking)
Please use this extension for chrome

@ashokpjacob, thank you.
@ashokpjacob thank you so much! Using it this morning, works great! It still won't resize when chat is showing, but I'll take it this is much easier to present with than the google meet built in tiles! Sharing with my colleagues!
@ashokpjacob also for some reason it's limiting tiles to 13 in grid just an fyi :)

To make it work:
This Works even when you present the screen
the 75% works much better! makes the chat smaller but it's ok for my class sizes - good "life hack" tho to tell colleagues. thanks!

- Change layout to Tiled View.
- Adjust the slider to Maximum number of videos (49)
- Set Zoom level of Browser to 75% (use the Ctrl key and “-”)
This Works even when you present the screen

when someone present the presentation is so small and it broke the grid
also I can't enable the "include yourself in the grid"
