Google-meet-grid-view: Participants appearing as lines

Since a few weeks ago, my grid view stopped working. All my participants are just lines on a screen and I cannot see all of them. I have removed and re-installed grid view but it is still not working. Would appreciate any help.

Mine was showing lines, so I updated my Chrome (because that has fixed the issue in the past). Now I can't see the participants unless I turn grid view off. When grid view is enabled, I only see myself.

Same for me, with v1.37.0 on latest stable Chrome and macOS
