I will now attempt to play through the game in its entirety and will update further.

With LLE GPU, this game gets in-game very briefly before crashing, with severe graphical issues, no music or voices and at 1FPS. The menus are essentially invisible, but can be navigated enough to where a new game can be started (just keep pressing A after the start screen.) Below is the frame on which emulation crashes.

Without LLE GPU, the game now renders everything up to around this point near-perfectly (bloom effect and some 2D elements are missing.) After this, the game fails to render most geometry, and this message is spammed along with the usual [0x3850] WARN: EmuD3DDevice_SetScreenSpaceOffset ignored:

[0x3850] WARN: Locking host Texture failed!

Audio seems to work very well, too.

Hi, I tried this game again with the dev build of Cxbx, even with the Stable release, same result.

Files are included:
Xbe.txt
KrnlDebug.txt

With LLE enabled, the process crashes itself within seconds. But, while using the Stable Release, it works but same results as @Eurose209 . Hope it comes stable with this game, I miss quite much when I was a kid xD

Unlike @Eurose209 and @TNTUP neither Stable nor Dev build get past initial loading screen and I don't know why. The screenshot below is what happens on full HLE.

LLE GPU is odd and 1 of 3 things happen:

  1. Play a short sound I believe to be from one of the logo movies and crash
  2. Freeze in the middle of the loading screen
  3. Nothing at all

All other settings are default.

As of Apr 13, 2019. The game works without the LLE mode, but the models (spongebob, gary etc) are invisible).

See by yourself, at the main menu you don't see SpongeBob https://i.qcfb.ca/20190415204536.gif

Well, it is not working for me, what is up, do i need to update cxbx?

Almost perfect.... but no character models render in April 27 2020 Build.

No enemies render either.

Edit: Here's a KernelDebug.txt. CxbxDebug created an empty file.
KrnlDebug.txt
Upon closer inspection, no 3d models are rendered. Only level geometry, particle effects, and the HUD.

Thank you for the screens.
Admin, please add the missing word SquarePants to make the heading "SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom". Only the new screens above show the first title words, "SpongeBob SquarePants" without the subtitle for some reason. Older screens above showed only "SpongeBob" and the added subtitle.

Note: This Xbox game is the 2003 multiplatform game. A remake is coming up in June 2020.

The last few posts with screenshots above have the matching title ID: [TQ-026] [v1.01].

Game works fine! You've made my day!

There are a few graphical oddities with drop shadows from 3d models. Besides that, the game seems completely playable. With a locked 60 FPS with 3x resolution at that!

The main issue I'm noticing is lag spikes when audio tracks are loaded in and out. Such as music tracks switching, or ambient sound starting and stopping. Not sure if this is a Cxbx issue, or just an issue with a slow external hard drive.

Here's an example of the shadow weirdness. The bug is more visible when an object is further from the ground.
Edit: There is also random crashing.

The shadow issue is caused by Render Resolution:

This game has regressed from the merging of PR #1894:

  • Many 2D elements, such as the Heavy Iron and game logos in the intro and the background for the pause menu, are missing.
  • Many 3D elements, such as characters and HUD elements, flicker lightly.

Unrelated: the cruise bubble ability causes the screen to turn black when under use, which is likely related to the distortion effect normally applied, but is broken. This is the only major issue, so if it were fixed, this game would be playable to completion.

Hi guys, i'm new here so i have a question about BFBB on CXBX, cause the game has lags and i want to play the game cause i want to do speed runs and i dont know what to do next...
BFBB problem

A comment, dated November 17, 2020, under a recent PR 2033, that was opened two weeks ago on November 16, 2020 (And then merged later on Nov 21), stated that some 2D elements in this game should already be rendered, as confirmed by the same user escape209 from two posts above. The PR, which is about improving viewport calculations, fixed the scaling of the menu and UI-related elements on-screen.

Other people can also test this game and/or show the relevant screenshots.

Edit (Dec 13, 2020):
This PR # 2048 (Optimize vertex stream cache for partial buffer access), dated November 27, 2020, was tested by an user and stated that it helped with this game's performance.

User's comment:

Reduces the length of stutters in SpongeBob Battle for Bikini Bottom, especially during pausing/unpausing.
