Description

Using Aug 13 2017 build. (bf5719e1)

The game now shows the initial loading screen of the game, and the 3D model of the main character is displayed correctly, but the waves in the backdrop have glitched colours. The initial title screen seems to have missing/glitchy graphics. The progress bar wil more often than not have graphics glitches.
The loading progress bar will fill up at about a little less than a quarter, then the game will slow down to a crawl (about 3 FPS), then end up crashing, with an error message. Terminating the emulation at this moment will sometimes make Cxbx crash.

Also, I think the game has no sound.

Status

Previous behavior:
In builds older than one or two months ago, the game would crash instantly, without displaying anything. Then, builds would start showing the initial game logos, then crash before showing anything else.

Current behavior:
Shows the initial title and loading screens, but crashes while loading.

A little update : I tried fiddling a little with the sound settings, and when I enable XADPCM there is sound, but the music goes really super fast, and is maybe higher pitched. The other SFX that play when the character swings his sword and shoves it into the ground work fine though.

I also tried enabling LLE for the heck of it. Here are the results :
LLE JIT : No ill effects, crashes at the same point while loading.
LLE APU : The game freezes at the first picture that is displayed, ie. the trademark info.
LLE GPU : The game doesn't display anything, stuck at a black screen.
Do you need logs for those ?

Hi guys, I just wanted to say that there's a regression on the latest build of CXBX, Galleon doesn't boot anymore. It simply crashes immediately after starting the emulation.

Hi guys, I have tried the latest build as of writing (f58159c5), and I can say that the game now goes ingame, the sound works fine and runs full-speed (30 FPS) with the "run on all cores" hack.

There is a major graphics glitch where only the right part of the screen is rendered, and the left part is just the right part, but rendered like garbage.
There's also a bit of texture rendering problems, where some animated meshes have their textures appear extremely washed out, or almost white.

The game crashes when attempting to load the fourth demo, and this crash seems to also crash the emulator, or at least, freezes it.

I have recorded a video of each demo until the game crashes. I also dumped the Xbe info on a file, and logged the kernel output (note that there was massive spam of the same warnings, which lead to a 300MB file, so I put the logs into a compressed file)

Setting the following flags makes the screen render completely. It seems it is now playable, but have to test further:

  • Turn on Settings/Hacks/Scale Xbox Viewport to Host
  • Turn on Settings/Hacks/Speed Hacks/Render Directly to Host Backbuffer

One thing that is missing though is all the text of on-screen dialogues.

Links to the existing xbe dump are dead, a new dump should be attached to the issue.

Concerning the game, it crashes during the intro with the error "nope, wasn't fully cleaned up".

@SilentHolmes that xbe dump is from a modified copy, we need unmodified data to build a reliable report

Unfortunately, my copy of that game is not correct (my dump is modified), but the game is now playable (f1d09af). The issue with HUD is the same, the words don't show at all. I was able to to the village, sound and video are near perfect.
