Hi all,
I think that it would be useful feature to have a real time tool log system, that is, the possibility to access the log of a tool while it is running and not only when it finishes or crashes as it is now. Another thing I do not understand is why only admin users can see the log files?
I honestly think that this would help the users to have an idea of the progress of long running jobs (indexing, tophat, etc). Are there any technical constraints to do this? Anyone has tried it before?
Sounds like a very good idea for a _new feature_, in terms of improving tool monitoring and usability (for _non-admin_ end users).
As suggested above, it would be very useful to have real-time logging of tool progress instead of waiting for a long running job to finish to see the _stdout_ and _stderr_ logs in the Galaxy UI and relying only on _main.log_, and _handler_ logs at the back-end which are not very helpful as it is to investigate tool progress and debugging errors.
