I had a pebble classic with gadgetbridge in use the recent years and I was pretty happy with it, but the pebble lacks sensors were not able to support smart alarm (waking me up in light sleep). So I'm probably buying a Mi2 or Mi3. Unfortunately Gadgetbridge lacks documentation on this topic. I just found #864 which confused me even more. Is there any process on supporting smart alarm and if this is the case, what devices can I use together with Gadgetbridge for smart alarm? Are Mi Band 2 and Mi Band 3 both supported?
Does the mi band use heart rate sensor to determine light sleep? If not then Pebble's smart wakeup is probably just as good. I'd also look into Sleep for Android, maybe that'll get you satisfying results without buying a new device.
Actually, I don't really know how sleep tracking works. I just guessed that it works by using multiple data sources. Anyway, my pebble is just that basic first kickstarter variant and I don't really found any option to activate smart alarms. Nevertheless, this smartwatch just struggles with it's battery and display integrity. Due to the massive use of glue, repairing is not really an option.
I just vaguely remember that most pebble fitness apps had problems working on the classic.
@ikarulus Oh, you have Pebble Classic, okay, then you might indeed not have Smart alarms built-in. Sleep for Android claims it supports all Pebbles though, so give it a look, it's proprietary though so that's a pity.
So is managing (smart) alarms possible via Gadgetbridge for the Pebble Time Steel and I just missed it all the time? If so, lend a blind man a stick to find the place, please :see_no_evil: :eyes:
@IzzySoft It's possible using the Alarms watchapp? Though, does the original Pebble app manage alarms?
@Avamander On the watch itself, sure. But I was asking about managing them from within GB.
Pebble Classic does support "Smart Alarm" via watchapp called Gental Wake, and it's opensource.
- Smart Alarm attempts to wake you if it detects you stirring shortly before the alarm time, which is the Monitor Period (doesn't interfere with background activity apps)
- All settings are in-app (Down button on main screen)
When I fist added my Mi Band 3, one of the alarms that were active was marked as "smart". So there probably is support for that.
However, after changing the time for that alarm, the "smart" vanished and I can't find any way of enabling it back.
Any news on how to activate smart alarms for Mi Band 3?
In the protocol we use to send alarms to Mi Band 2/3, Bip, Cor there are two flags left that we do not use.
One of the flags is "disable snooze mode" which will disable the snooze (wake me again in +10 minutes) feature.
The other flags does nothing on the Bip and breaks alarms on the Mi Band 3 completely, I have no idea how this should work and I am 99% convinced that this feature is plainly not supported.
