Gadgetbridge: Proposal to start community chat

I propose to start official Gadgetbridge community chat in order to improve and form community aspect and increase engagement and (hopefully) development pace of project. Strong and healthy community is one of corner stones of every independent projects sustainability.

There are quite few great and modern chatting platforms with nice content search, discussion splitting by topics moderation tools and github integration. An example list of possible options

• discord
• gitter
• slack

From my experience discord is in healthiest state compared by features and adaptability for development projects. There is great success story of Vue js community moving to discord after initially trying out gitter.

We should discuss if community chat is needed and if accepted that it is a good idea move on to further planning chat maintenance and moderation, chat policies and topics. Good thing is that initial cost of trying out and maintenance is quite low.

There are already an irc and a matrix channel. Both platform are decentralized and FLOSS unlike the one you listed.

None of these presence are official in the sense that there is no obligation by the core team to be there.

The matrix channel is #gadgetbridge:matrix.org, the irc channel is #gadgetbridge on freenode.
