🐞 Problem


Hello all , The instructions for how to make your first contributions are rather good , but at the portion where one is told to save the Contributors.md file and how to check it's status . I found that ,as a newbie, it was not clear for example : if the file needed to be saved in a certain location etc or what to do if, like me, it did not upload correctly I think that since this is geared toward beginners etc that perhaps a more detailed explanation in this portion would be helpful. Thank you for all the great help . this place rocks .

@jello7654, I'm not sure if we should address this but, if multiple users are facing/ have faced the same problem while going through the tutorial, we'll address it. How about we have a vote for this?

My thoughts on the points raised:

When you edit a file, most text editors save the changes to the same file that was opened for editing. This action is a trivial ctrl-s for most people. This is a user experience pattern almost everybody using a computer is familiar with. If I we add another line to communicate that user should be overwriting the same file or it should be save to the same repository you cloned, that could make things confusing.

what to do if, like me, it did not upload correctly

This could happen because of a number of reasons. This can go in Addtional materials. It's better to keep the main tutorial streamlined and simple and move error scenarios outside.
