I'd love to be able to long/3d press on the '+' button on the new tab page to reopen a recently closed tab.

Bryan suggests shaking the phone to undo the last closed tab. (this is a stop gap feature) should get better in v18

I'll look at this if nobody is against.

I see that this issue is still open ? Is it available to work on?

@sindhugudivada I think this work has been done but the issue has not been closed accordingly.

Looks like the PR with the implementation landed:
https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/firefox-ios/pull/4830
is that right @farhanpatel?

Hey @bryanbell can you confirm you're still good with the original design you provided for this and I'll prioritize in the backlog?

The shake to undo doesn't work for me. #4830 Neither iPhone nor iPad. Both have enabled shake-to-undo.

Also, honestly I don't like the shaking. (I never know how much to shake and how exactly.) To "learn it" I had to test it first in Notes. I bet many people don't know this option exists.

I'd like the long press too, as it's easy to show people how to do it. And it's already in Safari.

While a rage shake to recover a recently closed tab is a nice enhancement, as @adam-kral said, long pressing the new tab button to open a list of recently closed tabs would mimic behaviour as in Safari iOS and is therefore more likely known by a user. Also long pressing the + currently has no effect anyway so it should not affect any existing features.

From personal experience, when I first tried Firefox on iOS and closed a tab by accident, I was surprised to see that long pressing the new tab button (+) had no effect. I had to search the internet on how to recover accidently closed tabs due to the feature being hidden inside the browsing history.
