Firebase-android-sdk: Firebase RealtimeDatabase not working on mobile data Vodafone IPV6

Since today morning 4th September after PUBG ban in India, my app is not able to connect to Firebase on Vodafone mobile data. It is working fine on other network operators like Airtel and Jio and everything is fine on Wifi. Is it something related to mobile operator or anything else. Can someone help with this urgently?

There is no update yet, I have even tried to contact with network provider but they haven't reverted yet.

Guys, after doing one workaround it started working on Vodafone but thats not a solution.

I changed the APN settings of the Vodafone mobile data, in the APN only select IPV4 then it is working. This means there is some issues with IPV6 on which Firebase is not working for some network operators.

If anybody from Firebase team can put more light on it, it would be helpful to figure out the solution.

Changing DNS server for the mobile helps. You can try using some apps. But not sure how useful it is if your app is used by a lot of people.

DNS change is not helping. Switching of IPv6 helps at times but also flaky fix. One good solution is to use a VPN for now. It might be the case that this is caused due to the new app bans in India. It has happened very close to that time period. Some ISPs blocking based on some rule which is blocking firebaseio.com cause maybe some apps were using firebase.

For JIO - there was an incident reported in firebase status dashboard as well -

One more observation in Idea/Vodafone
a. from same device/network, chrome browser firebase JS SDK calls are working fine, only android SDK seems to have been affected
b. On trying to turn ON/OFF aeroplane mode, it seems to be working in android app also

Yes @sudharsans85, you are correct for the observation number 1 but 2nd one i.e. turning ON/OFF the aeroplane mode doesn't make it work.

If this request is because you are having issues with your RTDB, let me inform you that we've seen multiple reports about similar issues, and from what we have found so far is that this is related to a network issue and specifically to an internet provider. According to most reports the issue is only with Reliance Jio or Vodafone networks.

Now, one user reported a DNS error, so one thing to try is using public DNS servers to verify if this is the issue. For example, from Google, you can use these: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 (click here for more details). This will fix the issues for web apps.

Finally, if that confirms it, what I suggest is to open the browser's developers tools and to gather the logs from the "Network" tab when you go to the Database Dashboard and get in touch with your provider to ask about this. I'll check the team to see what we can do, but getting in touch with the provider looks like the best option at this moment.

Also, bear in mind that we have already posted this on the Firebase Dashboard.

The engineers are still working on this, however since this is an ISP issue and not a Firebase issue there is no deadline when the issue will be solved.

I suggest reaching out to your ISP for updates.

Just need to confirm this issue started after government banning several apps? If so then I think this might be because of server location of your package. Try changing that from GCP.

Yes the network provider have unknowingly blocked the ISP of firebaseio.com (thats what I think)

And those devices don't have IPV6 so it works.

In case of Jio, nslookup to DBNAME.firebaseio.com was failing - it was a clear DNS issue, it seemed to have been resolved now
But with Idea/Vodafone - nslookup seems to work. ping shows packetloss in one system, it works fine in other, but still app doesnt work

We would recommend reaching out your ISP to request further details and information on the troubleshooting to find the root cause for this issue as we can confirm the problem is not on our side.

complicated changes in your app it may take long time as because the

in my app named "To wait" now the downloader are decreasing day by day
after not retrieving data from Firebase ,now I only can wait to solve that

Folks, this is not a firebase issue. If the ISP has blocked DNS lookups or as other people have commented that random packet loss is occuring, then it is the ISP's responsibility to fix.

We need to get vodafone to fix.

Yes I experienced this when I use emmulator it act as cloud firestore after
refreshing the data is loading but only 3 or 4 times then it stops to load
data but in device till now the data is not retrieving

So after a long searching I got www and portalnmms are only the internet
speed changer which change the speed of internet accessing in Vodafone www
is higher internet and portalnmms is lower internet,,,,,so finally I got
the error is about the Vodafone internet server not in realtime
database,but this type error is not showing in cloud firebase database as
because the cloud is that one which firstly store data then show after
refresh,but in real time database have direct access,,,so lastly the error
or internet problem with Vodafone simcard it is not providing the faster
internet as with www portal recently I listened the Vodafone company is in
loss so it may take long time to solve this problem finally try to contact
with Vodafone service provider related this issue,it have no problem with
realtime database.

As far as i tried,i found a small fix,simply going Online before querying a child is working partially.but on some random devices it makes the issue.
Also try with persistenceEnabled = false;

No its not fixed it takes lot time to load data from frirebase realtime
database.

reputated service from Google but now a days they are careless about it,I
don't who is the main stupid person (boss) on which guidelines are
following the Firebase developers.They are now well aware about this
circumstance.

I also faced same issue. Till yesterday it was working with Airtel Sim but now it stopped working. I have tested using Jio Sim, it is working on that network.

Hi guys, it this issue fixed?
In some devices, it works perfectly fine but in some devices, it just refuses to connect. No error nothing. Major complaints are from Vodafone-Idea and Airtel but sometimes in Jio as well. Any update from Firebase yet? This problem first came around 4th Sept and then it stopped coming in the last week of September. Then again it started showing around 28th October.

Change the Firebase new implementation using new feature have no add
dependency version it automatically added as using bum somthing like that
check in the method configuration as implementing database.
