Hi,
I read through the API terms (https://api.getferdi.com/terms.html). There is a lot of talk about subscriptions and purchases. I was wondering in what direction the project is going. Are you planing on turning it into a pay service as well? It would be cool if you could clear that up. Thanks :)
We are not planing on adding any pay service/subscription to Ferdi! We will need to better fit the API TOS to what we are actually doing in the future.
Isn't that a duplicate of https://getferdi.com/terms?
I think it would be easier to have the terms just once on the website.
The website terms don't seem to mention subscriptions either after a quick CTRL+F.
@kytwb Those terms are not the same. The terms you sent are only for the website while the terms cdjost mentioned are only for the API.
Shouldn't we group everything in one?
I think its good to have two different TOS here:
The TOS and privacy policy on the website is kept minimal and only handles users visiting the site and informing themselves about Ferdi. The second TOS and Privacy Policy for the API is longer and handles users actually registering. It has to account for GDPR etc. as we are dealing with personal data. Visitors of getferdi.com should not be confronted with the long TOS and Privacy Policy that handles users registering - and they don't have to as they can use another server with another TOS and Privacy Policy instead.
Closing this as the TOS has already been simplified.
Re-opening as the TOS are still confusing (see this Twitter thread).
The current copy doesn't convey the right message.
I added the legal documents to the server repo via https://github.com/getferdi/server/commit/e7267bc62a1f8d030ca2292de965ebe182ea058a so we can clarify this openly
