Clementine: Still unable to connect to spotify.

Expected behaviour / actual behaviour

Cannot connect to Spotify, neither in the search tab nor in the Internet tab. In a debug build, this error message is printed:

Build Clementine with debug flags set. Then, log into Spotify and try to search for songs on Spotify.

Having the same issue as well. Would love to stick to Clementine as my go-to player over Spotify's Electron client.

Same issue here, on Ubuntu 18.04.1.

Hope someone comes up with a fix.

So I did a bit of searching, and it appears that libspotify (which Clementine uses) hasn't been updated in years, and in fact has been deprecated for something like five years; Spotify has instead thrown all their support behind their mobile SDKs and a REST API. I'm getting the feeling that Clementine is going to have to completely rewrite their Spotify support for it to work again.
