I was thinking midi support, either native via alsa to a hardware midi device, or too a timidity++ server running as a daemon
or as a fall back embbed timidity++ in to Clementine, and use that to play the midi's, it will also be able to play mods as well

What about using libmodplug for modules?

This is probably as easy as installing the modplug & timidity gstreamer plugins on Linux.

Thank you John, for the tip about "bad" gstreamer plugins. Anyway, any activity in support of midi and modules - it's great.

any hint how to set it on Mac, please?
currently clementine plays midi through GStreamer if the file ends with .mp3 (otherwise it doesn't recognize it). Would be great if clementine recognized .mid files and detected running midi daemons such as fluidsynth or timidity and route to that (such as an alsa sequencer present) and route to that.
Still not fixed
