chocolatey.org has been going down due to problems and maintenance a lot - more in the last six months then the last two years. When it's down, you're going to see what you just say.

So, should return message be something like, "Chocolatey service is under maintenance..." ?

No.

The choco client doesn't know if chocolatey.org is broken or down for maintenance; it just knows that https://chocolatey.org/api/v2/ isn't responding.

Consider it a caveat of using the free community repository.

When you see a problem, you should check the two sources (links) I mentioned previously.

Sometimes status updates are also posted at https://twitter.com/chocolateynuget but there have been no tweets for 2+ months.

BTW: I didn't notice before that some of your packages where successfully checked and some failed. I'm guessing the site was having problems/bogged down or possibly you had an intermittent connectivity issue. One of the repetitive problems with the site seems to be accessing the package database. Sometimes a search returns no responses, sometimes the search/lookup returns all results in triplicate. The Chocolatey Team is aware of the various problems and have been working on it. I've seen no actual ETF (Estimate To Fix) or concrete explanation of the problem. We just have to wait for them to suss it out. Chocolatey has been growing in popularity and thus the servers are being hit with more and more demand. I think there's been mention of problems with the load balancer, but I can't confirm. Maybe if more people purchase licensed copies they can upgrade the load balancer. :)

We always post updates during site problems and maintenance issues to the Chocolatey Twitter account. I am not seeing where you say that there haven't been updates in over 2 months...

If you are referring to the first tweet, then notice that this is a pinned tweet.

Pinned Tweet threw me off.

I hate and don't use Twitter, just dug up the link for thoroughness.

I'm having this problem. https://status.chocolatey.org/ shows that everything is operational. Even choco upgrade chocolatey doesn't work

Maybe there was a broken/interrupted update? I'm not sure how to solve it.

Edit: Solved It

Apparently my proxy is activated, that's why it won't connect.
