Calculator: Add support for calculating hours/minutes in data calculator

Created on 21 May 2020  路  7Comments  路  Source: microsoft/calculator

Problem Statement
Calculate time with milliseconds (HH:MM:SS.mmm).

Evidence or user information
Widely used in the film industry to adjust timing between video, audio and subtitles.

Proposal
In addition to the calculation of time (days, months and years) allow the calculation of hours minutes seconds and thousandths. In 24-hour military mode. We already have the Dates Calculation option. Add Hours Calculation option.

Goals
To calculate time (HH:MM:SS.mmm), with "cents" of a second, thousandths, which is one of the standards of the film industry.

Non-Goals
I don't think I need to calculate TimeCode with Frames.
But if you wish you would need to add, in addition to calculating with thousandths (base 1000), other bases for "cents": 23,976 fps, 24 fps, 25 fps.

Low-Fidelity Concept
I did not understand the purpose of this item

Enhancement pitch declined

Being able to say, take a movie running time of 170 mins, and put it in calculator to get "2 Hours and 50 Minutes" written out in a friendly way.
