Just to add, I've got this as well on Windows 7 Pro
Just updated and now won't launch :(

Reverting back to app-0.18.32 by deleting the app-0.18.34 folder fixes this.

yeah sadly something was wrong with 0.18.34 build. Apologize for that

So is there going to be a proper solution to this? I have reinstalled three times so far, and not really happy with putting that much mileage on my SSD. Perhaps a way to ACTUALLY not upgrade?

@Samizdata as long as you have preview builds off, you'll be good to go. The talk mentioned above is for folks with previews enabled

I got on the preview channel back when Netflix and HBOGo broke. So now I appear stuck there, and the forced update just broke it AGAIN.

I am getting REALLY close to just tossing in the towel on Brave at this point. I can't get the fundamentally useful plug ins I asked for, like GreaseMonkey/Tampermonkey, but I can get a new shopping plugin, and, now, I can't use it for any length of time without having to reinstall. I really loved Brave when it came out and was a serious supporter. At this point, though, it just looks like a giant mess that gets messier and less useful with every release.

At this point, is there a way to COMPLETELY block the updates? Or, maybe, get an unbroken update? OR SOMETHING? I want to be able to enjoy things like streaming media, and, oh, ACTUALLY BE ABLE TO USE THE BROWSER WITHOUT MULTIPLE REINSTALLS A DAY.

FWIW, I had to reinstall Chrome so I could post this. So, yeah.

At this point, is there a way to COMPLETELY block the updates?

FWIW, I had to reinstall Chrome so I could post this.

You could delete Brave's profile and run afresh

Seriously?  Just to get the browser to load after an update?  That's not really a functional answer to this problem.

otherwise: please wait until the new build is available on https://github.com/brave/browser-laptop/releases

Do we know how long a new build will take?

Awesome, sir!
