Azure-docs: ARM Templates: "Download a template for automation" is Broken for QnA Chat Bot Deploy

Created on 27 Feb 2020  Â·  2Comments  Â·  Source: MicrosoftDocs/azure-docs

Issue

The following section of ARM template documentation refers to a pre-deploy option to export ARM template:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-resource-manager/templates/export-template-portal

According to the documentation we should be able to:

"Download a template for automation."

Once the automation options have been selected, before actually clicking deploy.

However, when trying to do this using the ""create bot" option of QnAmaker.ai (from an existing knowledgebase), this option does not appear after clicking "automation options".
A deploy is successful when clicking on "create", so this is not an issue with the actual bot configuration.

Question: Is this option available at all under the above scenario? If not, how do we obtain this ARM template for automation?

This happens even when I reset my portal settings to default:

@archmangler Thanks for your comment. We are actively investigating and will get back to you shortly.

@archmangler - Thanks for this feedback. I tried your scenario and also saw a problem with getting the template before deployment. Your best option to address this issue is to file a bug in the portal.

However, you can still get the template after deployment. See the section called "Export template after deployment". I tested it and was able to get the template for my web app bot.
