Azure-docs: ClientEnabled flag clarification

Created on 5 Aug 2019  Â·  6Comments  Â·  Source: MicrosoftDocs/azure-docs

"ClientEnabled="true" sends the ApplicationInsights client-side script for tracking page view and client-side errors (not needed)."

Clarification needed on this is not needed as it is always enabled OR this is not needed as it doesn't work?

Thanks for the feedback! We are currently investigating and will update you shortly.

Hi @felickz ,

Per my understanding, it is not needed because it is an optional field.

Looping in @mmacy to confirm.

@felickz @MarileeTurscak-MSFT Apologies for the delay, I'm working on getting a definitive answer on this one. I'll update here when that's been obtained.

@felickz After an inexcusable delay, I've managed obtain a definitive answer to your question. I'll be updating the doc to remove "not needed," and will be adding additional information about this flag. Thank you so much for your patience!

ClientEnabled="true" sends the Application Insights client-side script for tracking page view and client-side errors. You can view these in the browserTimings table in the Application Insights portal. By setting ClientEnabled= "true", you add Application Insights to your page script and you get timings of page loads and AJAX calls, counts, details of browser exceptions and AJAX failures, and user and session counts.

This field is optional, and is set to false by default.
