Azure-docs: The documentation Deploy Docker CE cluster is incorrect in the ssh comand.

Created on 13 Jun 2018  Â·  8Comments  Â·  Source: MicrosoftDocs/azure-docs

The document Deploy Docker CE cluster provides a ssh that will not have the expected outcome , as in being able to deploy the docker specifcation into azure.

The specified indicated command is

ssh -p 2200 -fNL localhost:2374:/var/run/docker.sock azureuser@MasterFQDN

What worked for me is

ssh -p 2200 -fNL 2375:127.0.0.1:2375 azureuser@MasterFQDN

My takeaway from the last few issues I have raised, is that Microsoft are no longer interested in maintaining the docs or putting any effort into their docker / swarm offering on ACS (especially for windows users), because the docker marketplace solutions are viewed as the "golden path" to docker on azure. If this is the case, I think it would be good to put big disclaimers on all of the appropriate docs for acs swarm, that if you are looking to run docker on azure you should now use the market place solution!

@brunoss what is the outcome when you use the command in the doc? Are you seeing an error?

@MicahMcKittrick-MSFT The command does not give an immediate error. However it will stop me from using docker stack deploy with the error:

channel 2: open failed: connect failed: Connection refused error during connect: Get http://localhost:2374/v1.37/info: read tcp [::1]:50000->[::1]:2374 wsarecv: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.

I reckon this error appears because the tunneling was not specified correctly.

Thanks for that @brunoss. I am on getting the same error but am also having issues getting it to work.

@neilpeterson can you try running through the doc and confirming if we are just missing something or if we need to update the doc?

I guess this won't be particularly useful but I am attaching a screenshot of the result of both versions

I still get an error with the command I suggest but this seems to be a docker related issue rather than a ssh issue

@brunoss - thanks for opening this issue. At this point, I would suggest checking out the Docker offerings from Docker inc. This will be the most complete and up to date way to run Docker Swarms on Azure.

Thanks

I am also hitting this issue on windows 10:

docker stack deploy azure-vote --compose-file azurevote.yaml error during connect: Get http://localhost:2374/v1.37/info: read tcp [::1]:54189->[::1]:2374: wsarecv: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.

I'm getting this errors as well on mac.
