Should this send a notification email to the approvers? I don't see a setting for that?

This is being developed. Currently there is no notification for a pending approval.

This is being tracked as one of the critical gaps with Multi-stage YAML pipelines. As per current state of the backlog, I expect it to be in place sometime in November this year.

Hi Guys.
Any updates on this one? Even when I configure the notifications with "An approval for a deployment is pending" I don't receive any email. It used to work with previous version of tfs, but with the current version(Azure dev ops server, on prem, 17.143.28912.1) it stopped working.
Email notification is needed for our business.

any news on the Jan release? likely to happen? the shift from Nov to Jan concerns me and could be a game changer if another 2 month delay

This is currently under development, in progress.
We expect to get it wrapped up in a few weeks.
So, Jan release is a little delayed but very much tracked with Roadmap Item 1663889: Notification for pending approvals

As a temporary workaround for the lack of notifications, I added a 1 day timeout to the Environment's approval configuration. This way, if no one approves for 24 hours, then we at least get the email notification for the failed build and can go into the pipeline, re-run the failed step, and enter the manual approval then.
This still isn't ideal, but at least it limits the time that an un-deployed release can go unnoticed. This is especially important as the un-approved release will block all subsequent deployments from running if the pipeline is set to "Batch CI" mode, as documented here.

Anyone have any idea how long the roll-out to Cloud can take? It's been 4 days since the documented April 13th release with this feature and I still haven't seen any Approval notifications from my Environments. I don't see any additional configuration details on the Approval config either.

Hi Folks checking in with the Product Group on this as some of the clients and myself have been looking for this. All Azure Services follow a ring deployment model so not all regions are deployed to at the same time.... this sort of speaks to the concept if you're not familiar with it...https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/devops/migrate/phase-rollout-with-rings?view=azure-devops

Unofficially there was a small issue with the release so the rollout was paused. Small fix should be done for the next release train 2-3 weeks.

I've been seeing the notifications since last Friday. Didn't want to mention it here until I'd seen them continue for several days, but it is up and appears to be working well since then. Our installation is in the Central US region.

This has been rolling out over the at week. We follow a ring based deployment model & that means depending upon the ring your organization belongs to, the feature might already be available or would be there by early next week.

It is available now. We are getting the alerts for pending stage approval.
