Checklist

  • [x ] I have used the search function to see if someone else has already submitted the same bug report.
  • [ x] I will describe the problem with as much detail as possible.
  • [ x] If the bug only to occurs with a certain podcast, I will include the URL of that podcast.

System info

App version: 2.0.3+

App source: F-Droid

Android version: 8.1.0

Device model: Micromax N8301

Bug description

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open F-droid app, find AntennaPod and click
  2. scroll down to Versions and expand list
  3. See that current (as of now) latest version is 2.1.2
  4. Scroll up to "changelog" link, click
  5. find that changelog is only up to 1.8.1

Expected behaviour: was hoping to see what changes were made between 1.8.1 and 2.x, especially since the major version changed

Current behaviour: not able to see "what's new"

First occurred: several weeks ago

Environment: just the app

Stacktrace/Logcat: not relevant

My apologies for not being able to respond till now.

I do see what's new, but only in the latest version (here, 2.1.2). The
rest of the intermediate versions between what I am currently running,
and the top, can't be seen here.

Meanwhile, I notice the other messages on this -- thanks for that; much
appreciated.

And once again, thanks for a fantastic product, pretty much a daily
driver for me!

If in the F-Droid app you go to Settings > Manage installed apps >
AntennaPod, do you see listed what's new? Below an example from
another app I have installed through F-Droid:

Thanks for reporting that @sitaramc
@ByteHamster I'm wondering: should we abandon the changelog and get F-Droid to link to the Releases page instead?

That would be quite alright too; the information people look for in
changelog is present in the Releases page.

Thank you.

Yes, definitely. That's fewer places to update on every release :) We should also update the license on F-Droid as it will change with the next non-bugfix release.

not able to see "what's new"

Actually, we push the changelog in a format that should be displayed by F-Droid. Unfortunately, they seem to have a bug there: https://gitlab.com/fdroid/fdroidserver/-/issues/844

Yes, definitely.

I'll prepare a PR to update that.

Hah. Was wondering if it was because I have AP installed from another source (Google Play), apparently not. That's too bad – hope they'll fix that.

Oh, wait... You are right. I think it is caused by the installation source. The website does list the changelog. https://f-droid.org/en/packages/de.danoeh.antennapod/

@sitaramc
If in the F-Droid app you go to Settings > Manage installed apps > AntennaPod, do you see listed what's new (in the block with the light blue background)? Below an example from another app I have installed through F-Droid:

If you do, we know the automatic release notes are working as expected. Then we'll just need to update the changelog link.

(PR submitted against F-Droid's Data repo: https://gitlab.com/fdroid/fdroiddata/-/merge_requests/8189)

Ok, PR on F-Droid was merged, closing this issue. Thanks for letting us know @sitaramc!
