Antennapod: Episode name trimming

Created on 18 Nov 2016  路  5Comments  路  Source: AntennaPod/AntennaPod

I think AntennaPod should trim episode names, they are often prefixed with "Episode " or the /feed/title and a separator like "|" or just " ".

It is sometimes a suffix, but I think that would be harder to check for. Eg "episodeName | feedName episode number"

I never imagined that users should be entering regex themselves, I think it just be done like it is in other podcast clients. Anyway, this problem has been correcting it's self over the years due to podcasters not dirtying the title as much.

Disagree.
Could Google's Chromium/Chrome auto-correct typos in websites? Easily. Should they? Hell no!

While we choose what information we display and how (formatting), I don't think we should change any of the contents.
If you disagree with the episodes naming scheme, you should complain to the podcast creator!

I only brought this up because you just implemented renaming feeds, and the above argument could apply perfectly to that feature.

I think the only major podcast clients that doesn't do this are the Apple ones, most others do.

@ByteHamster What do you think? I reckon we can close this issue (low demand, and possibly lead to more confusion and when users sync their stuff e.g. with gPodder).

Also, this would be pretty hard to make accessible for users. We can not expect users to learn how to write regex to set up that feature correctly.
