Antennapod: Notify new episodes

Display a notification when new episodes are available

If this is implemented, please make it an option to turn it off. Reason: I have multiple dozen podcasts on my list, new episodes always pop up, and I don't want to be spammed by notifications.

I agree, please allow this to be disabled - I've got enough feeds that there's always new stuff to listen to, I don't need eleventy bazillion notifications a day :)

This seems like it should be a foundational feature for an application that regularly downloads new content. I do agree though that there should be a way to turn it off

In the Google Group a user specifically asked if notifications are available _per podcast_. Something to consider if anybody ever considers implementing this.

As per linked issue #2976 - it would be nice if the episode notification had option to: start playback, queue & download it (for later) or mark it as read (if such episode is not interesting)

Agree, I was surprised not getting any notifications for new episodes.

Sounds like a default feature.

I've been working on this a little...
2 questions:

Would you prefer showing the notification:

• only when the app is closed and in the background. (please vote with the thumbs-up reaction)
• everytime, even when your in the app. (please vote with the thumbs-down reaction)

When new episodes are found, would you prefer having displayed:

• the number of new episodes, but it only shows the number of episodes found with the last update. It does not add the number from the previous notifications (please vote with the laughter reaction)
• show the number of episodes marked as new. (please vote with the hooray reaction)

The twitter poll is finished :) Together with the votes here, it looks like we should only notify when in background (eg. when refresh was done automatically)

As for these two options:

Can we not display both, e.g.: X newly published episodes (y total new episodes)

It we do this, I would vote for writing it the other way around because that avoids having to write "new" twice and is shorter:

X new episodes (Y recently)
