Home Assistant release with the issue:
Android app 1.0.0
Last working Home Assistant release (if known):
N/A
Operating environment (Hass.io/Docker/Windows/etc.):
Android 9.0 Pie
Integration:
N/A
Description of problem:
When attempting to setup the HA Android App with my HA installation, I am unable to connect to my server using my FQDN that I setup for HA. I have to use my internal IP and port to get it to save and connect. This means that I'm unable to use the app to control my house from outside of my house, which seems like a missed or broken opportunity.
Problem-relevant configuration.yaml entries and (fill out even if it seems unimportant):
N/A
Traceback (if applicable):
N/A

My FQDN works just fine, make sure you enter http or https as appropriate. Also in the future, file android app bugs here: https://github.com/home-assistant/home-assistant-android

I assumed more features would come so I didn't leave a big report. But
there should be 2 inputs. One for local and one for external. That way we
can access Hass if the internet is down but we're local.

Oh, my bad. I tried to find the github link but wasn't able to. As for the
FQDN, I was putting in the https and http (since I have a 301 redirect) but
I kept getting an error that it couldn't connect. How do you unbind the
host and re-add it? Do I have to clear the data to reset it?… <#m_884152569646050359_>

I do it by declaring my external address on local router's dns. So in lan it's seen with local IP
It's a limitation of the users router and we should collect two urls, one for local and one for outside your home. More info in the dev docs: https://developers.home-assistant.io/docs/en/app_integration_sending_data.html#short-note-on-instance-urls
