Android: Automatic syncing of directories

Basic Info

It would be nice to have the android app sync selected folders automatically to and from the phone.

Open questions

• [ ] Store synced files unencrypted and outside of Cryptomator on the device or should the files remain encrypted? (storing encrypted would just be #24)
• [ ] Allow to switch between one-way and two-way sync?
• [ ] To prevent useless download/upload of unchanged files we would need some way of modification detection.
• [ ] Allow to sync only using WLAN or also using the mobile network?

Dito. Manual encryption can be a pain. Automated sync would be so much better, like it is on desktop.

Agreed, automated syncing is a must for such type of solutions. IMO the current photo sync is difficult to manage as it synchronises all new image files to a single directory in the cloud. It'd be much better if we could have it only sync the screenshots and camera directories in different directories in the cloud respectively, for example.

Try to use FolderSync app and a local storage in Cryptomator app.

FolderSync may be scheduled per time interval, WiFi, bi-directional, etc. However, it does not support "sync on file update", although I think this could be resolved via Tasker plugin...

I absolutely wonder why this really essential feature isn't pushed more. I guess there would be thousands of new users If this would work. Especially for photo upload.

I was hoping to use this in conjunction with Markor to create a snappier Joplin replacement. Just allowing it to work as on desktop(provide unencrypted directory for other apps to use, sync that, lock depending on settings) would make more use cases like mine(and others's) possible.

I would also love this feature to basically create an encrypted backup of all the data on my phone, that I find important.
