The "Gateways 2018" conference is in Austin, Sep 25-27,
I would like to submit a proposal for a 3 hours tutorials on deploying JupyterHub / Kubernetes on XSEDE Jetstream, see the call:
https://sciencegateways.org/web/gateways2018/program/cfp
Great you are doing a larger tutorial at PEARC18 https://github.com/jupyterhub/zero-to-jupyterhub-k8s/issues/643, I am interested in helping out with that and possibly re-use something for this!
I would like also to add dask clusters following Pangeo.
Is someone interested in helping me out with the proposal and the actual presentation of the tutorial?
@yuvipanda @willingc @mrocklin @choldgraf and anybody else interested
All off this sounds great to me - we'll probably start assembling PEARC tutorial materials soonishfully. Would love help/input on that.
cc @aculich , who I think is interested in this as well
@zonca Happy to pitch in with slides for the presentation or editing a proposal. I'm at another conference for those dates.
I have prepared a draft proposal, I started from your PEARC18 proposal ;), I'd love some feedback: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1AdOoj0V1cBVjqT9Yd94JtFQ5oMQN2HN60utAYUJ4DFw/edit?usp=sharing
@choldgraf I will use material from your PEARC18 tutorial, what names should I add to the tutorial organizing committee to acknowledge that?
@aculich @yuvipanda @mrocklin @choldgraf is any of you interested in being in Austin Sep 25-27 to help teach the material?
I'd love to, but I think I'd be out of the country at that point :( Great work getting this going, @zonca! Good luck!
@zonca I think I'll be out of the country as well unfortunately, but would be happy for either @aculich or @mrocklin to represent the projects with you!
re: the google doc, I think it looks good! The only thing I might add is a specific list of the skills that will be learned (e.g., a bit of kubernetes knowledge, distributed computing, xsede, etc)
@zonca i'm interested.... I can't commit fully yet, but would love to explore this with you.... let's chat more about it. What's the deadline? I don't see that listed in the doc, but i added my name there provisionally.
Very good @aculich, the deadline is May 16th, please add any suggestion you have to the Google Doc. On Monday I will get the content into the conference template and submit the proposal. If it gets accepted, we will discuss more the details of the tutorial.
Submitted, I'll reopen the issue if it gets accepted.
