Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
Is there any progress on #2635?

Describe the solution you'd like
Of course, the best-case scenario is that yowsup works again. But I would
be happy knowing what have been done since February (whether it is a success or
a failure).

Describe alternatives you've considered
I don't know of any FLOSS alternatives for yowsup.

I asked @tgalal to consider reporting the advances in another issue, and to have a place to share information in order to make yowsup work again. Maybe a new env would help, @nightcoder22 suggested that in #2635 and there is a recent commit #a4f4ca308deeeed9ded2a6107d9750496f75af3e that changes the android env.

Anyway, I'm sure a lot of us would be ready to try/test/code if we knew what the problem is.
