Youtubecenter: Dev Build #542 - Still no "Save as" when you try to D/L YouTube videos less than 720p

Created on 8 Feb 2017  路  9Comments  路  Source: YePpHa/YouTubeCenter

I am running Firefox 51.0 (32bit) on Windows 8.1 64bit and YouTubeCenter.user.js Developer Build #542 and I am still having an issue where when I click on download and choose any resolution less than 720p it does not provide a "save as" and instead opens the video in another tab.

BTW, what was updated in #540 and #542? I tried both and neither of them fixed this issue.

Thank you for putting more time into this add-on. I really appreciate what it does and the way it works (when it works).

I see no problem

as for @ArJunaZ , after you open the video in another tab, right click the video and choose save as.

@ArJunaZ I concur with the download issue... been waiting a long time for a fix.

@NiGHTsC but we want it like it was originally... save as window with the file already named for you.
less clicks less hassle.

@digideth That kind of defeats the purpose of the add-on. I use heavily customized settings for pre-formating the file name to include much YouTube info in it. I see the current #543 release fixed the date function which has not worked in forever. That's a huge gain. Now if you can save low resolution videos the same way it would be perfect AFAIK.

Thank you for the effort YePpHa!

Nice to see renewed action on this addon. Would apreciate the filename fix for resolutions 480p and below. Thanks!

@ArJunaZ I hoped you picked the wrong name for your reply.

@Tox86 please don't go off topic. If you experience another issue please submit a new one.

We try to maintain a one bug per issue policy as it's easier to maintain and keep track of fixed issues.

@digideth My apologies. You are correct. I both misread and missed that you were referring to another user's comment. I agree with you completely. When I posted that this morning I had been up for 27 hours working hard on two PC's including installing two new WD Gold 10TB drives in a mirrored RAID 1 array, and I was also rearranging the other 10 internal hard drives in my PC. Trying to juggle 12 properly routed SATA cables into 12 drives all inside a packed case and get them right for my purposes had me frazzled. These new WD drives are spectacular BTW, not that much slower than my top tier SSD's.

I tried Dev Build #544 and my OP still holds true.

Also, the issue I mentioned above where the file naming date function worked for the first time must have been a one time fluke. I've saved literally thousands of files with YouTube Center Dev. Build and That was the first time EVER I saw "{pubyear}-{pubmonth}-{pubdays}" actually work in the download filename formatting. However, when I tried it again just now (no change in build #) it did not work on the same PC. I also installed #544 and those "{pubyear}-{pubmonth}-{pubdays}" elements are still not working.

I will open a new thread for this issue.

Over the years I've gotten used to replacing the "0-0-0" date manually, but it would be nice if it worked.
