Yaru: Blurry titlebar borders

Created on 22 Feb 2018  路  6Comments  路  Source: ubuntu/yaru

The titlebars/headerbars on windows appear slightly blurry due to the fact that they are surrounded by a semi-transparent black line.

In previous revisions windows using the dark variant (e.g. Videos, Photos, gtk3-widget-factory (when using dark theme)) had a less transparent border - and so appeared sharper.

All variants share the same titlebar/headerbar now (which is good), but (IMHO) this semi-transparent line tarnishes the appearance of the windows.

@clobrano I know that it's not technically possible only to have borders in the headerbar, but I'm just wondering if this shouldn't only apply to top-border only?

The borderless window look much cleaner, but the border creates a nice separation between windows (especially if we're removing the backdrop). We still have the window shadow, so would you say removing the border diminishes clearity?

I am biased here - maybe merge the changes and then check how this feel in the real and if needed reevaluate.

EDIT: Sorry, looking at your screenshot again, I think the window sides looks waayyy better without the border! I apologize for the noise! I would merge it, but there's conflicts that must be resolved

Foreground window looks sharper - background windows are still blurry.

Yes sorry, I didn't say that that backdrop state hasn't changed at all

Ah, OK - why not?

Because it's just a proof of concept. I wanted to get some feedback before completing and proposing the PR.
