I expected to be able to use all (or at least) the most common extended characters from the latin alphabet. The error message was not particularly clear either (what does "a-z" mean in this context?)
The validation is too strict, and prevents using accent marks and special characters which are extremely common in many European languages. The correct spelling of my name, for instance, would be 脕lvaro G贸mez, and my country, Espa帽a.
Preventing usage of all these characters makes for a very poor, hardly inclusive and rather confusing user experience at the most critical moment in the conversion funnel. I would propose revising this and extending this character set to include at least the most common ones.
I realize that allowing for ALL extended characters is probably not viable, but we may want to reconsider including a subset of the most prevalent ones.

I will often see users struggling to add their name or address because of this issue.
Just nothing, I got a user having the same issue as their address has special characters.
Thank you for commenting, @jartes. Do you think we should maybe change the label here from Enhancement to Bug?
I think so @mrfoxtalbot. I've also seen some users struggling with the same issue and would be great to allow them to enter their address as it is or surname as it is.
Just noting, I had another user with this issue, as they had the 帽
letter on their address. It's a common letter from the Spanish alphabet.
