Wp-calypso: Editor: Slideshow shows black panels instead of images

Steps to reproduce

1. Starting at URL: https://wordpress.com/post
2. Click + (Add Media)
3. Select Several images
4. Click Continue
5. In the Layout field, select Slideshow

What I expected

To see a preview of the slideshow images

What happened instead

A black panel appeared

1. Click Insert

What I expected

To see the preview of images in a slideshow in the editor as well

What happened instead

The black panels appeared here as well
