Please leave a reply stating modern or classic depending on which font style you prefer for your site. Classic refers to traditional serif fonts like those used in academic publications - which is currently the default for Academic. Modern refers to modern looking sans-serif fonts.
In the near future, there will be better options for theming Academic and changing fonts. It would be good to hear directly from users what you prefer as the default 😃
I vote for: Modern
I too vote for modern.
I like current font styles. But I was forced to use new version of Lato font, because I need Cyrillic support.
I vote for a combination of serif/sans-serif pairing to provide a distinctive look uncommon in traditional documents, for example, headings could be Atlas Grotesk — a beautiful sans-serif typeface that was inspired by well-known typefaces Helvetica and Mercator. The body could be Lyon Text — a contemporary serif that looks great on digital interfaces.
Is it possible to leave this as an option in the settings?
@Resonanz yes, Academic's upcoming new theming system will allow to choose different themes and styles 😃 There will be the option of both the current classic style as well as a modern style - it currently looks like the modern style will probably be the default for new installations.
I vote for modern font. In some languages (ie: Vietnamese), the default font of Academic could not render properly.
I vote for modern
The default font style has now been set to modern in the new theme system (66ca3fca7596048ff7511a8361912ba2434c2b72)
