Extra Theme has Homepage SEO Section which does not appear in the source code

extra homepage seo

Homepage is created by using a non WYSIWYG editor? This results in the Yoast SEO meta box not appearing?

no yoast meta box

Non homepage category pages also lack the Yoast SEO box. Not sure if they are using a WYSIWYG editor

We should decide if we should add Yoast SEO Metabox to each editable page/post or if we should perhaps give plugins the ability to register the Yoast SEO metabox.

i think it would be great to have Yoast SEO Metabox in each editable page. I have multiple homepages created with the divi category builder and therefore i need three different meta tag description for the three languages.

@Carlao93 Thanks for your feedback. We've discussed this issue internally and came to the conclusion this is not a bug. Currently we add the SEO metabox for each public post type. It seems that the editable pages in Divi do not have the SEO metabox because the post types are set to private.

I've contacted Elegant Themes to inform them about this issue.

So you think that this is a problem that elegant themes has to fix? They should only change an option in the theme in order to enable the SEO metabox in the category builder?

I'm asking so i can contact elegant themes support too, in order to have this issue solved as soon as possible!

Thanks!

@Carlao93 We indeed think the issue has to be solved on Elegant Themes' side. I cannot say how easy or complicated the fix is, as I'm not familiar with their code base.

We're currently working together with Elegant Themes to fix as many issues as possible, so they're aware of this issue. We've offered our full assistance in solving this bug as well. Of course I cannot say if they deem this issue important enough to solve.

Ok, that's great to hear. I will contact them too and we'll see if thy update their theme! I think they should fix that because Extra is a great theme and is used in a lot of websites worldwide.
Let's hope!

O.T. are you working also on the other problem: "Extra Theme has Homepage SEO Section which does not appear in the source code " which is the first one in this topic?

Yes, we are. We're checking if the error lies with us or with Elegant Themes. You can follow that issue here: https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues/5427

Hi  I can confirm that this is already an open issue on our dev repo for Extra. After we release the Visual Builder update for our Divi Builder standalone plugin at the end of this month, we will be performing a round of bug fixes for our core products. I'll make sure this issue is addressed at that time.

and what about supporting meta tag description for multiple languages in the divi category builder with WPML? Will that be supported too in the future?

Thanks a lot!

Yes, improved WPML support with Extra's Category Builder is planned. Cheers!

Thanks! Thats great to hear, now there are serious problems with WPML!

I also would love to have that feature in the Extra Theme for the Category Builder.

This kind of error does not let me set an appropriate og:image for my homepage. Have any of you figured out a solution?
