Wire-webapp: [Web] Missing Button for Emojis
Is it correct that the Emoji button is visible in all other apps but not in the Desktop app? I couldn't find any Issue that described that. But it would be cool if the GIFs and normal Emojis would be available in the desktop client.

The solution on the desktop is emoji autocomplete. There is no button. There was some discussion over on https://github.com/wireapp/wire-webapp but Fasthubs search isn't very helpful right now.

ok But it's nut really good if you don't know which icons are available ;) and i think Wire should be for a larger group of people... i can't explain my mother how she can autocomplete emojis :D

+1 for this feature. On some occasions, when I want to use a more exotic emoji, I am missing the "pick from a list" feature. The auto-completion only makes sense if you already know what is there and how it can be "auto-completed".

In the meantime: does any list exists, which emoticons in which way will be replaced? :-) and :-( is easy, but how to write "thumbs up" or "rolling eyes"?

Would be really helpful to have a button for smilies like it is in the whatsapp desktop client! Autocomplete is cool but there a some smilies where i don't know how to find them.

After going through the support article I found that pressing "windows key" + "." does exactly what I need 😄 so...imho there is no need for a button 😝 maybe a small introduce when starting with wireapp on windows would be helpful because nobody is looking into support-notes today...I guess 🙄 and coming from whatsapp client I was used to have a button for smilies...

IMO a shortcut which only can be found when reading the doc (or via tutorial) is a bad idea. There is plenty of free space on which a button could be placed.
I just as well checked the support. Only found this article. So it looks like it is only an issue for some OS, not for all. Here on Linux, there is no such feature. your proposed keyboard shortcut does nothing for me.

Also I am slowly getting used to the auto-completion and I have to say that this is a very cool feature. Its a bit nerdy 8-)

People who use Linux can download gnome characters. It works well with wire.

@bennyn It's necessary to reopen this FR unless wire intend to keep 20th century communication application however we don't interest to use that platform even for business environment but only encryption.
Consider let users to import custom static & animated emoticons/stickers as user mentioned above because we cannot expect wire may spend time for design some dozen of sticker packs. Such feature also available on telegram.

@bennycode Why not remove it from all other platforms such as mobile, for consistency?
I'm being ironic, I'd like this feature on Desktop, as well.
