It would be very handy if you could see a list of all messages you liked in a conversation. I actually was very suprised that this isn鈥檛 possible yet (or am I just too stupid to find it?), because without that, I don鈥檛 really see the point in liking a message (except showing the other person that you like it, which you could also just do by sending a quick emoji or so).
I disagree with you.
I see liking messages as a quick way to acknowledge you've read something, or as a way to show your support for something. I don't want the collections to be cluttered with useless messages like "ok", "pizza at 9" or "waiting for you in front of starbucks".
If I want to recall a specific message, there is a search function that I can use (it's technically in beta right now, but the update should become available in the next few days I think). If collections started including all liked messages I would probably stop liking messages.
Well, I can see how it would be impractical if the collections were cluttered with it (although personally I only would like messages with important info or reminders or sth, stuff that I can't search for easily), but I was thinking of it like Whatsapp does it already: Liked Messages would not appear within the whole collection along images and media and stuff, but rather in a separate list by themselves. This way, people like me, who use likes to bookmark things, could access those bookmarks easily while people like you, who use them just as a "like", could continue to do so and wouldn't even have to bother with it.
Could there be a search operator that could be used? I'm thinking something along the lines of is:liked that would find all liked entities ... Because I can like more than just messages. Messages are easily searchable by their text, but being able to find all liked entities within a specific conversation would be useful.
At least one friend of mine, and myself, would like to be able to see such a list as well.
I would happily see this filtered by chat: "see liked messages for this chat".
I suggest also having a pin :pushpin: or star :star: action, which then is searchable or easily listed. The heart  can then remain a transient reaction thing.
